I have defined a bunch of Checkbox datatype profile fields for my portal (I'm *not* using Dynamic Registration, just Dynamic User directory).

I'm trying to define search fields. In the "Fields" drop-down, most (but not all) of these custom checkbox fields that I've defined are missing from the list and hence I don't know how to include them. Also, most of these same field tokens are missing from the Template editing screen as well.

Seems like a bug? Any workaround? Any help appreciated.

    Hi Bob,

I'm just posting the comments I emailed you earlier for anyone following this thread.  Please let us know what solution you ended up with.  Thanks!

    Candace

A marked checkbox will always show as True, I believe this not specific to our modules, this is how DNN handles it.  If you want the value in the properties, you might consider using a radio button or a combobox (dropdown).  Or you might create hidden textboxes and set up client side events so that if the checkbox is marked, a specific value is plugged into the hidden textbox which is mapped to the property.  Hope this helps!

I am not following this explanation. Let's say a profile contains 3 checkbox fields that have been populated as follows:

    x Sports Massage
    x Swedish Massage
    x Reflexology

I want my site visitors to be able to search for profiles that contain matching therapy types, so I create a search field for each of these profile fields. I'm finding I can't define them so that meaningful results are returned.

    For example:

If I use radio buttons, the "Values" I expect to match are "True" for a field that's been checked, and "False" for one that is not. The problem is that you cannot construct a search clause that gives the desired results.

Given the above, where all three are checked, if in my search clause I said only:

    Sports Massage "equals" 'True" OR
    Swedish Massage "equals" "False" OR
    Reflexology "equals" "False" OR

It will wind up returning all the records, whether Sports Massage is True or False. This is obviously not what you expect.

Conversely, if I use "AND", no results will be returned , because all three are checked and the clause fails. This is not what you want either.

It just seems like there is no way to do this, unless I'm not understanding some basic functionality of how search is supposed to work, or if perhaps there is a better representation of the profile than using checkboxes for each of the specialties that I just haven't thought of.

Does that help clarify the issue?

    Thanks,
    Bob
