I have a set of search fields configured for a Dynamic User Directory module. Several of the search fields are configured as Combo Boxes and use the "values:" list for the Input Values field.

The problem is that, unlike the SQL input type, there is no way (I could find) for the user not to select anything. By default, the first item in the list is selected and there's no way to unselect it. As such, the search is basically rendered useless unless those fields are removed.

Is there a way to include something in the list of values to indicate a non-selection? Would a wildcard character work?

Hi. Yes you can easily do this...

    You would either need to:
    1. Use SQL for the dropdownlist and in the SQL use a blank option, then a union all option.
    2. Use the Values: option but just have an empty item. Such Values:,Red,Blue,Green. Then the first item should be blank.

With either option you will need to make sure you use the 'Contains' search operator.

    Thanks!
