    hi, all --

We want to use DynamicViews to display data to the anonymous public on our internet sites.  Our staff would maintain the data using a DynamicForms page visible only to content author roles.

The [DynamicFormsEditLink] is terrific for staff to easily get back to the record for editing.  However, we would rather not tempt anonymous users by showing the edit link.

Is there some way to have the link display dependent on user role?

Else, I guess we would have to use 2 DynamicViews pages:  one for all users sans link, and another restricted to staff, showing the link.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello John,

I must say that you have chosen a great picture for your account on our site

Unfortunately you can't hide show fields in your Dynamic Views template.

So in your case you will need two Dynamic Views. One to include the link and another to not include the link.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

I see that this is an old topic, but i wanted to check to see if anything has changed. Is it still the case that a [DynamicFormsEditLink] token will not be hidden based on whether you have rights to edit the content?

    Thanks,

    Patrick

    Hello Patrick,

So you're using Dynamic Views and a Dynamic Forms instance as the data source. This isn't really a possible configuration.

Here's what my recommendation would be using our latest Dynamic Views(3.1.1) and Dynamic Forms(4.1.4) today:

1.) Make your Dynamic Form store the results into a Custom SQL Table. Simply create a SQL Table just to store the results of your Dynamic Form. Then build a SQL Completion Event to INSERT into your SQL Table upon form submission.

2.) Alter your Dynamic View to use Custom SQL Query as your data source and pull in records from your custom SQL table that's storing your results.

Your Dynamic View query to generate columns can contain almost any type of SQL.

So I would recommend building HTML links conditionally with Subqueries in your Dynamic View Custom SQL Query.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
