    Hi,

I need a little help (again) with Dyn Views connecting to external Database.

I'm having trouble with DV connecting to a external DB on the same server. Can't generate column names.

In the eventlog the error: The stored procedure 'dbo.DataSprings_RetrieveDynamicView' doesn't exist.

But the stored procedure is there.

A while ago I had a similar problem withe the same error in the event log, that was solved by adding the stored procedure to the database.

    See: http://www.datasprings.com/dnn-modu...-db/#17391

I don't know what to do to make it work. I deleted the procedure and added it again, but no success. I use the same connection string as in Dyn.Forms, where it works fine.

I use the 2.10.1 version of Dyn.Views. Table/view doesn't work, Custom SQL doesn't work, DynForms instance works ok.

Table/view and SQL on a random table on the portal database both work fine.

This is the connectionstring that I use also in Dyn. Forms:

    Data Source=PC\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=Database;User ID=xxx;Password=xxx;

Hope you have an idea why this is not working,

    Thanks

    Bert

    Hi Bert,

So you verified the stored procedure that it's missing exists on the other database? I am curious because it doesn't sound like a connection issue if it says it's giving you the missing error. Can you sign in with the connection user through management suite and execute that procedure?

Another alternative in the module is to use the free form option in the module. If you do this the module should not ever need to use that stored procedure is days is missing on your other server.

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Hi Chad

I was somewhat confused about the error, and I couldn't think it was missing on the other database. I could not remember what I did the last time.
I created it on that database, with errors on dependencies, but it works!
Sorry for my misunderstanding, but your answer helped me a lot.

    Thanks for your great support!
