    I have an action to insert a record on a table as follows:

    URL: www.websiteurl.com/page/test.aspx?DSParam1=8251

    insert into TableName
    (CID, ETID, Date)
    Values ('$(DSParam1)', '$(PrimaryKey)', GetDate())

    I am using Dynamic Views 3.0.10.24377 / DNN 5.6.8

    The action does not seem to be working. Is this even possible? If so how can I accomplish it?

    Hello Benjamin,

    Dynamic View Actions do not work this way.

    Please review the Dynamic View User Guide to learn how to configure an action and which tokens are available. The issue is that DSParam1 is not a recognized token inside of the Dynamic Views Action section.

    User Guide(Pages 24, 25 and 26):
    http://www.datasprings.com/userguid...rGuide.pdf

    You may need to use a Dynamic Form for your INSERT action query.

    Let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Ryan,

    Thank you for the response. If I could get the CID to be a result of the SQL called by DV, can I then call it on the action?

    Hello Benjamin,

    I believe the only tokens that can be used in the Dynamic Views Action section is:

    $(UserID) = User ID of the current user logged in.
    $(PrimaryKey) = value of the column that you mapped as the primary key of the Dynamic View.
    $(IPAddress) = IPaddress of the current user logged in.

    If CID is unique enough to reference your Dynamic View results, then I would recommend making CID the appointed Primary Key of the Dynamic View so that when you use $(PrimaryKey) it will render to the specific CID for the record in which you clicked the Action Link/Button.

    Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
