    Hi,

I have basically created a load of generic usernames to give out with default "firstname", "Surname", "display name" & "email@mydomain.com" fields pre-filled.

What I want to do is some kind of IF statement to say that if

    SELECT FirstName

    FROM Users

    WHERE UserID = $(UsedID)

    = 'FirstName'

then display a message to say "Please update you profile, Click Here"

But I'm not sure how to do this... Probably very basic, but would appreciate if anyone could point in the right direction.

    Many thanks

    Pete

Hmmmm... I am thinking that this could be done a few ways.

#1. Maybe use the Tailored Text/HTML module to return a stringle variable. That string would be a SQL or stored procedure that passed to the procedure the UserID and then it would return text text as the variable.

So within the stored procedure itself it would either return 'Please update your profile,..." or it would return 'Your profile is up to date.

#2. You could (you would want to backup your database and review this in more details first) add users via SQL to a security role called 'Update Account Role'. Basically Update UserRole Set RoleID = 3 (or whatever roleID the Update Account Role was in), UserID = (select UserID from yourtable where you determine they need updated).

Then, you can set that security role to show the tailored text or even standard text that says '$(FirstName), your account information needs to be updated, please click here to manage your profile'.

    A few other thoughts:

You could use your Dynamic Login module to redirect them to that specific page based on their security role

There is some core functionality that might work too, you can specify some fields that are required and then within DotNetNuke specify that their account must be required before they can continue.

    Chad,

Thanks, sorted it with SQL query string! Cheers
