an odd, specific situation here... we have a registration form that has been working for a few weeks just fine. username and password and password confirm are all visible to the user and were mapped properly and allowed users to register and then login successfully.

last week, we went in and added matching actions, force required, etc and the form started having many problems where it wouldn't submit, much less get to create a user. Reading through the forum, on threads like this: http://www.datasprings.com/Products...aspx#10519
we learned that it's a mistake to also force validation, etc on those fields since it's already handled by the module since those fields are mapped to be registration dnn core fields.

SO, we removed the validation, removed the required, etc, and now the form is back to working, in that it will submit correctly and create a user in dnn...
BUT, the password is not being setup correctly?? the user is not able to login with the user they remember creating (and we've reproduced this several times), however the email notifications that go out to us show us that indeed the correct password IS being at least sent out in the emails... if we work on that user's account in dnn admin section, we have to recreate/reset the password before we can login as that user.

anyone have thoughts on this problem, or suggestions on tests we could try? i would love to be able to look at the db and see what the user's password is being set to to help figure out what's wrong, but not really a way to do that...
