I can't get a default value to work for a radio button set.

This is interesting, I'm not sure why this isn't working for you however there's a simple workaround using JavaScript.

Simply Inspect your Radio Button Group and find the HTML ID of the option in your Radio Button group that you wish to be defaulted. Save this ID value.

Then you can build some simple JavaScript to select the radio button:

document.getElementById('HTMLIDGoesHere').checked = true;

You'll want to place this JavaScript under Module Configuration -> JavaScript -> Custom JavaScript File -> Initial JavaScript.

This section will fire any JavaScript that you provide on Page Load.

That should work for this case but I would like to see this fixed so the works around is not required.

Yes this is a known bug at the moment and it's currently logged on our development list. This item is not at the highest priority at the moment since there are several workarounds. We plan to have this fixed up on the next patch or hotfix.
