    Hi -
    I am running DNN Professional v 6.2.6 with DynamicRegistration v 4.0.60.
I have configured the registration like this:
    • running the registration through the default DNN modal popup window (register.aspx with no registration page specified in Site Admin).
    • DR configured with the 'Redirect to Previous Page' field ticked on.
So far so good.  But here's the issue.

After I submit the registration, the new user is registered, however, the modal popup window displays the error message as per the attached file.  When I then close the popup window the page refreshes and I am on the original page, logged in as the new user.

So the registration event is working, however, the issue is the error message in the modal popup window. The Event viewer does not show any errors - just the standard messages confirming the new user account was created and logged in.

If I un-tick the 'Redirect to Previous Page' field and registe a new account it works fine.

So it appears that something is happening that prevents the modal window to close correctly.

    Can you please advise?

    Thank you in advance.
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

From the error you sent, it sounds like the URL back is somehow getting corrupted or misread.

Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: A potentially dangerous Request.Path value was detected from the client (.

You might check if it behaves the same way if you disable the modal popup. This video might be helpful:

    http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Video-Library/Viewer/Video/319/View/Details/Turning-off-Popups-in-DotNetNuke-6.aspx

Beyond that, it will be difficult to support and troubleshoot this because your DR version is more than 3 years old. I would recommend that you upgrade to Dynamic Registration 5.0 to make sure that you have all the latest features and fixes.

    Thanks!
    Candace

oh, fyi, I didn't mean to put a smiley on the error. The error message showed a colon within a parenthesis

    Candace -
Thanks for the quick reply. And I did test this running outside of the modal popup window - and the redirects works fine. Does this have any impact on your thinking?
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

That helps point to a possible solution for you at the moment. I haven't tried it on DR 5.0 but if it is a problem, we don't know yet if this is an issue with the module or with DNN. Either way, we are able to fully support bugs if you're on the latest version. This may be as far as I can take it with your existing version.

    Thanks!
    Candace

    Candace -
So I upgraded to DynamicRegistration v5.0. Unforunately I get the same result.

The attached error message displays in the lightbox after submitting the registration form. But when I close the lightbox the error clears and I am logged in with the new user account.

There are no errors if I run the regsitration outside of the lightobox.

Can you please review and get back to me?  I'm certainly fine to upgrade to V5 once this is resolved.

    Thank you.

Candace - just to be clear. I'm running the trial version of DR v5 and receiving the error message.  I'll upgrade to the paid version when the issue is resolved.
    Thanks

Ohhh....okay, well that makes a difference. I'll test it out here on DR 5.0 and log this in our bug report for further review. Thanks!

    Candace -
Any update on this yet?  Do you have an ETA for the fix, or a workaround I could use?
I'm in a time crunch on this...
    Thank you.

    Hi Mark,

I don't have an ETA yet but I have submitted this to our chief developer for review. He's attending an intensive training for a few days so his time is limited this week but I will follow up with him.

Meanwhile, are you able to give us temporary host rights? If you are, please use the Contact form and give us the host login and the URL to your DR page. Also, please add your invoice ID and a link to this forum thread for reference.

    Thanks!
    Candace
