Hi - I am building multiple forms for a new DNN installation, and many of those forms ask for the user's state.  Is there a way to build the states dropdown box once and use it on multiple forms?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    -Jeff

HI Jeff, that's not possible since each DF form will have it's unique tabid / moduleid and the question fields tied to that. You can't create one field and have it accessed on other forms, etc. The other forms won't be able to see it. -- David

Hi Jeff, maybe a misunderstanding. DNN already has the standard State listing for US and Canadian states. You can check it under HOST / LISTS. You can also create your own listings table to access the data with an SQL query.

I thought what you meant on the forum question is that you create one "State Field" on a particular form and then call that field from another form without having to create the same "State Field" on another form. -- David

Okay, in DF, create a combobox field, and use the following SQL driven option:

select Text as QuestionOption, Text as QuestionOptionValue from Lists where ListName= 'Region'

This should return you all the states list. -- David

Thanks David, helped me out too. To narrow the list down to US states, I updated the SQL to:

select Text as QuestionOption, Text as QuestionOptionValue from Lists where ListName= 'Region' and ParentID = '221'
