Hey -- the datagrid is a great feature. Having two challenges though.

    1. when hiding the datagrid border, the vertical divider lines remain, which throws off the vertical alignment with the field to the left. can those divider lines be eliminated?

    2. I receive the following error message when I click the "save" icon at the end of the my row: There was an errorSys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled.

Details: Error parsing near 'ROW CU:010578|update'.

The question and label are not in the same column (I read that was a known bug).

    Much thanks!

HI Dan, I tried a test case with a textbox field to the left of the datagrid, hiding the gridview borders and I don't see anything wrong with the alignment. Can you attach a picture of your case here?

Also, the saving error "parse" problem. Do you have regex expression on the datagrid view? How about validation or javascript manipulation? -- David

I had the same issue when clicking the save icon at the end of the row.  I’m not sure if this is a good idea, but turning off form AJAX fixed this issue for me.

Module Configuration --> General Settings --> check “Disable form AJAX”

One formatting issue I had with the datagrid was even though I was hiding the label (to the left) there are 4 blank cells as my column span was set to 4. Is there a work around to this that i'm missing?

    Thanks.
    Craig

HI Craig, can you try setting the column span on the datagrid back to 1? Also, if possible, show me an screenshot of your datagrid form? -- David

    David,

Thanks for your quick response.  since my form is four columns wide, it expands the first column:

    Portals/0/Dynamic_form_example/datagrid1colspan.jpg

    Here is the original look:

    Portals/0/Dynamic_form_example/datagrid4colspan.jpg

Here is what I would like it to look like (this is with the label in the same column, which doesn't work correctly due to a bug.)

    Portals/0/Dynamic_form_example/datagridtarget.jpg

    Thanks.

    Craig

    Try this setting:
    1) on the datagrid Question Look / Feel

    set column span: 10
Display label and field in same column (Override general setting): check this

This should work for the look you want. -- David

    David:

Thanks for your help, though I think I might have to wait for this bug to be squashed. If I put the label in the same column, isn't there a usability issue on the front end where after the first row, you may have to enter data twice to save.

    * There is a known bug with the Data Grid field type if you also enable the feature to display the label and the field in the same column (instead of left to right). If you have problems with the data grid field please disable the feature to display the label and the field in the same column. Our development team is reviewing this issue.

Okay, you are correct. How about displaying label/field in same column for the other fields instead? -- David
