I would like to display nicely formatted confirmation page to a user once he/she fills out and submits my form.

For test purposes I am only using a single form element ... $(name).

I've figured out that I can pass the name text as a session variable to another page containing a form element with the same name (and set the element property to display only).  This works, but the resulting confirmation page looks like a read only form.

I would like to pass the form element to a hidden field.  Then create a form question which is of the html type.  This form element would display the $(name) variable nicely formatted.  Doesn't seem to work.  I guess I envisioned this to work much like email text can be created for form submittal.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi. Actually I think you are probably over complicating this implementation. There is an easy way to do this out of the box, just check the box in general settings to 'Display message to user after submission'. Then under messages/layout you can specify the message they see (including parameters).

    Example:
$(FirstName) - Thanks for submitting the form. Blah Blah Blah...

Then there is a continue button that actually redirects them to the next page. You can specify the continue button link text or choose to have the continue button be an image button as well).

This is probably your best bet. If you go beyond this you probably should look at our Tailored Text/HTML module to pass form elements over querystring or session variables and pick them up within the text module.

In my case I had the intent of providing a preview of an email that is sent as a completion event to an SQL bound form. A reasonable requirement, Yes? I created an Text/HTML question and copied the email template with its parameters (about 30 of them) into the question. Yes, I did hit the 4000 character limit for the question text  but that is not the point. I noticed that the parameters that match the hidden fields are rendered as empty strings so, I was disappointed.

But WAIT! There's more! When I dragged and dropped a question onto itself, which triggers a page regen and Viola! The hidden/parameter data shows up

Please consider providing the ability to use parameters in Text/HTML questions and the ability to place the same amount of text in a question as in a dynamic email. These features are so close you can taste them!

My workaround is to send a "Preview" email as a completion event to the user until a better solution is available.
