    In the Manage Dynamic Questions -> Dynamic Questions -> Question Validation, if I enable "Required Field" and make use of the "Required Field Error (i.e.*)" option, then for every unfulfilled required fields, there is an * appearing at the top of the question block as well as next to the unfulfilled required field (which is okay). Is there a way for me to make the one appearing at the top not show up?

    Also, how do I control the look of the error message specified in the "Required Field Error (i.e.*)" in terms of font size and colour?

    Thanks for the anticipated insights.

    Do you have both client side and server side validation turned on in general settings? If so you can a. turn server side validation off and b. check the box in general settings to hide the validation summary. This should do it. As far as the font/color I believe this is also using either a standard DNN stylesheet class or a custom one. Ill check on this, you should also be able to view the source to see which stylesheet class yours is using.

    Thanks, Chad, for your reply.

    Yes, I did have both client-side & server-side validations ticked. As you've suggested, I've unticked the server-side option. However, I've looked over every single option & setting in the entire "Manage Dynamic Questions" edit interface, several times, but I just could not find the hide the validation summary option. Where exactly it is in Version 2.3 ?

    As for the styles for the error messages, I've looked at the source code, and I've found that there is no style classes assigned to ValidationSummary--the style specifications are inline items, like this . . .

    • * This information is required.
    • *
    • * Error matching your email address above.

    In this case, how can I customize the styles? I do not wish to alter the default style attributes of elements like
    ,
      , and
    • because they are being used somewhere else for their default attributes.

      Looking forward to further advice.

    Hello, Chad.

    My follow-up inquiry probably fell through the crack . . . I still haven't been able to find the option for hiding the validation summary. How is it worded in the edit interface in Version 2.3?

    As for styling the validation error messages, I finally found a way to affect the changes, but I have to know the module id number and then hard-code this number into the style definitions in my style sheet. Is there a more "dynamic" way of implementing the styling effects of the error messages?

    Thanks for your anticipated reply.

    I looked for it, too, as I am having the same issues. I get a mixed bag of validation error displays; some up top, some to the side of the field, and some display both.

    I would take the displays either in the header or to the right of the field and would care where they displayed...but an 'either or' would be nice.

    I think the "hide validation summary' field is MIA...?

    I have a simple workaround for styling the error messages.

    First I have created a style in my style sheet:

    .DynamicForms_Error
    {
     font-family: arial;
     font-size: 12px;
     color: #FF0000;
    }

    Then, I set the HTML class in the error message itself. e.g. when the message is:

    Incorrect e-mail format

    I made a message like:

    Incorrect e-mail format

    You'll have to include it in each message.

    Its not pretty, but it works, and hey, life's not a beauty contest!
