I have a form that accept payment and insert data to database.

My question is when user clicks on submit button does it insert the data to database first then authorize the payment or it validate the payment first then insert?

HI, what payment gateway are you using? Paypal, authorize.net, etc? If it's Paypal, you tie each completion event to a Paypal status event so the order will go by Paypal status. If it's Authorizenet or Veri, it should redirect you to the payment gateway and also add you to the database simultaneously (I think I'm correct on this but will have to verify with Chad Nash to be completely 100% sure). -- David

HI Michael, I just talked to Candace and she told me that the completion events only trigger if the payment is successful. This is all done through code in the background so if your Authorize.net payment is not successful, the insertion into the database would fail. -- David
