    Could someone please provide me with an example of how to use the validate_email function that is included in the custom javascript file?

    Thanks

    Hi Dyn,

    Is this for Dynamic Forms or Dynamic Registration?  In DR, the validate email just basically checks for format -- does it have an @ sign, or does it have a .com?  If you're looking for more validation, you might considering looking into the Field Validation options.  Thanks!

    This id for Dynamic Forms 3.1. I have tried using the field validation built into DF but when it shows the message that a valid email address needs to be entered my calculated fields are cleared and the check boxes remain checked, so I end up with an invalid total being submitted. I am just looking for an example of how to implement the validate_email javascript on the client side for that particular field. I can't seem to make it work?

    Thanks

    Steve.

    I could not get the validate_email or validate_required javascripts that came with DF 3.1 to work so I built my own if anyone is interested they are here;

    Email Address validation;

    function verifyEmail(emaddress){
    var status = false;
    var emailRegEx = /^[A-Z0-9._%+-]+@[A-Z0-9.-]+\.[A-Z]{2,4}$/i;
         if (emaddress.search(emailRegEx) == -1) {
              alert("Please enter a valid email address.");
         }
         return status;
    }

    On the client side you just need - verifyEmail($(ShortFieldName))

    Required Field Validations

    function Verifyrequired(reqfield,alerttxt){
    var status = false;
     if (reqfield.value==null||reqfield.value==""){
     alert(alerttxt);
     }
     return status;
    }

    On the Client side - Verifyrequired($(ShortFieldName),'your alert text')

    these seem to work well for me.

    Steve,

    Hi. I just wanted to say thanks for posting this solution. We will review this and add it to the default JS file that is included within the module.

    Thanks again!

    Hi... I just wanted to thank you again for posting these. We have added these JavaScript functions and instructions to the upcoming 3.4 initial JS file release.

    Hi Chad,

    Is there a way to actually send a short verification email while the user is still entering the Form data and asking him / her to "confirm / verify"? That seems to be the ultimate validation. Even if we validate the email for correctness of 'format', if the email is not verifiable, then, the whole form may be unusable (as we can't reach the user / submitter). This is needed for Registration Forms offered to public (with no requirement of Portal Registration).

    I am envisioning this feature like this
    We can have a check box next to the Email address (you may even have a data type called "Email"). After user enters the email address, he/she can click the "verify" check box or the form automatically sends a verification email (after confirming with the user if it is OK to send such email).

    Would you please throw some light on this?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi.. Well you could technically already set something like this up with the work flow... You could handle this a number of ways, maybe adding in a 'Verification' table via SQL Event and sending the user an email and a special hyperlink... Then in the email sending them to another page where it will validate that via SQL Binding or maybe SQL Validation... We have actually handled work flow scenarios with similar requirements with Dynamic Forms, I don't think we plan to offer something built into the module directly as each use-case and implementation is pretty unique when it comes to a requirement like this.

    Thanks for your comments and feedback!

    -Chad
