I'm getting requests in my company to add a unique, sequential, serial number to each form that is submitted.  So that each form submitted can be tracked.  Is there any way to add this to a form?

I understand that I'd probably have to create a SQL database, but any ideas on how this might happen?  Ideally, I'd like the number to appear in the form itself, but I understand that it might not be able to happen, but I would like to be able to email that number to a user?  Is there anyway to pull something like this out of a database and email it?

    Thanks

Hi. A few ways of getting this result.

    1. There is a unique variable called UniqueResponseID. This is a unique identifier that is saved when the form is saved under DynamicForms_QuestionResponse table. Additionally this is available within any of the events including email events, or SQL events as the parameter $(UniqueCompletionID), or areas of the module such as the display after message. For example you could say, please keep this page handy for your records and include the parameter so that you could always pull it up easier etc... This parameter is also available as a session variable. Within general settings you can turn on the feature to pass unique responseID as session variable.

    Ummmm......
    2. You could always throw the form into your own table using a SQL Event. In that table you can setup a column that is a auto incremental number. This way everytime data is inserted into the data a unique number is kept with that data.

Just a few ideas, to pull from the database and email it you might consider the completionID as it should fit the bill the best.

I tried using $(UniqueCompletionID) and I can't seem to get it to send in email.  I did try to enable the

However it never seems to save my choice, so I wasn't sure if this would be causing a problem in passing this identifier.
