Using the latest DataForms, I'm unable to attach files to my e-mails.  I'm using AttachFiles as suggested in the manual but nothing is coming through.  I can reference the file in a link within the e-mail body but really need to be able to attach to the e-mail as we're creating work tickets and really need the files to be part of the ticket record.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi there.  Can you please do a quick check in Host, Module Definitions if you have Dynamic Forms 3.3.61?  If not, please access it in your Snowcovered account in Patches and Hotfixes (or in MyDownloads if you own the Collection 3.0).

If the problem continues with this patch, can you please check these:

    1.  Is the attachment not getting saved when you hit submit?  Or is the email coming through with the attachment but gets an error when you click on it?

    2.  What error are you getting?

    3.  Is the file uploaded in Admin, File Manager?

    4.  Is the file set for visible to all users?

    Thanks!

    Candace

We have the latest version of the module. The file is being saved properly. Previously, we used the random file name - now we're using the friendly file names. We're not getting any error at all, nothing in the event viewer either. I do see the files in the folder DF created and as far as I can tell, everyone can see them.

This is just very strange... Is it possible an email program is stripping the attachment at all? I know that I have seen this before where some emails were getting marked as spam and the attachment was getting stripped out.

Does it happen to the same email consistently? If you bcc yourself or another email that might help as well. Maybe you can bcc yourself and see if you receive the attachment but others don't?

That was a good idea - unfortunately, it didn't work.  I cc'd and bcc'd different accounts in and out of our network and no account got the attachment.  I first tried a simple text file followed up by an equally simple doc file.

Just on a whim, i even checked the file attach checkbox under the advance settings for the completion event and that didn't come through either.

Just to test an idea that Candace suggested, I created a test form with 3 fields - a text field, a date field and a file attachment field.

     Here's what I got:

    • Text Field only: Attachments Worked
    • Text Field with Date (Textbox w/ Calendar): No attachments
    • Text Field with Date (Month, Day, Year textbox): Attachments Worked
    • Text Field with Date (Combo Box): Attachments Worked
    • Text Field with Date (Month and Day): Attachments Worked
    • Text Field with Date (Month and Year): Attachments Worked

Unfortunately, when I tried changing the date field type on my real form, the attachments still did not work.  There may be more than one issue at work here.

So far we have had one other client run into this and it was specific to the same date field type you are trying. While we are reviewing it my suggestion would be that you use the jQuery date (which I really prefer anyway) and that works with just a regular textbox. You can demo this if you demo 28 at http://www.datasprings.com/formdemos.

Would this work for you as a work around for now?

Just to keep this thread active... We have identified that this is happening on some occasions when using the 'Date' field type (textbox w/ calendar). If there is another field type also causing the problem please let us know... There could be another field type causing a problem but so far the only one we know of is this one.
