We are trying to get DF to set the focus to the first error field on a form and can't seem to get this to work.  We have tried different browsers IE/Firefox/etc.

We have changed many of the validation configuration options thinking we have conflicting settings (like hiding the validation summary, etc), tried to set "Force user to top or bottom of form after invalid validation?:" to None  and "Set focus on first validation error field:" to checked and still can't get this to work as expected.

Are there specific settings for form validation configuration that need to be enabled/disabled in order to get this to work. I've searched the forums and looked in the documentation but still don't see anything on this specifically not working. Server Validation is enabled.

Tested with multiple version of DNN (including 5.5) with DF 3.40.1.0

    thanks,
    Curtis

Hi Curtis... I think that this is a server side validation feature only (can't do this with the client side validation). If you turn client side validation off does it work? This also applies to the stylesheet setting for validation etc... If it still doesn't work, can you let me know if you have AJAX enabled or disabled under module configuration, AJAX?

Turned off client side validation and now it jumps to the first error field (it works!).  Verified that AJAX was disabled (this is a default right?).

Can we not use this option with client side validation enabled ?

Hi. yes, correct this is limited to server side validation only... a few others too such as forcing the user to top or bottom, changing the stylesheet class of invalid fields etc... If you run into many of these issues I would suggest disabling client side validation completely for a more consistent look.

    Thanks Chad!

It would be a cool enhancement to have these all be conditional, so if you have server and client validation enabled, grey out the input controls that won't work due to a conflict?  Uncheck "enable client side validation" and then you now have access to those other controls,...etc

    thanks,
    Curtis

Hi Curtis... Yes, I agree... or at least maybe put them in two separate sections. The problem is that some some of them are used by both and others only used by one or the other. Sometimes we don't do the disable/enable as it then causes another postback or 'Processing' but even some more details descriptions and help (or maybe a link pointing to a blog post or something) would be very helpful.
