    Hi, thanks for reading.
I have a RadioButton whose QuestionOptionValues are a decimal like 125.45  And I want one of my choices to be the default. I have chosen one as a default but when the form loads, there is no option chosen at all and as a result my calculations in my total cost field won't calculate.

    1. Why won't the radiobutton do the default I've specified

    or
2 How do I do the javascript to substitute the value of 0 for a radiobutton that has not been clicked by a user and therefore has an undifined value.

    Thanks

Why does the radiobutton not show the default option as being chosen on form open? It shows no options chosen.

Hi. So you have that value selected within the module configuration area? Does it work if you have just a simple radio button (like one with a yes or a no). It could be a problem if you had multiple radio button options that had the exact same value/amount. Are all of your question option values unique? Can you attach a screenshot of where you are selecting the default value at under the question settings?

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Thanks Chad for your help.

The options for the radio button are unique. The "None Chosen" option has the value of 0 and the other options have unique dollar values. I wanted the "None Chosen" option to be the default so the value of the radioButton would therefore be 0 and not null. I have chosen the "None Chosen" option as the default, but the form does not show any option selected when it is opened.

Screenshots are provided for the form view and the design view.

Hi... Well, I have to admit that this all does look correct assuming you don't have other features turned on such as pulling from querystring, session, binding, etc... Even then it should at least set the default first.

If you switch to a combo box does it work then? If so I can go and just check the code for radio buttons. If not, I will probably need to see if you can duplicate this on Beta Springs.

    Thanks,

    Chad

Switching it to a checkbox or checkbox group does not make the default work. I'm sorry I cannot steal the time required to re-create this in your test area right now. I'll have to get back to you.

Chad, thanks for your reply. SQL Binding was enabled. When I unchecked that box, my default choices in the radioButtons started working again. Thank you very much!

I ran into this issue as well but I could not disable SQL binding because I needed it. What I ended up doing was casting the value returned for the radio button to a varchar in my sql bind statement. ex. cast(MyFieldName as varchar(3)) as ShortFieldName

That worked ... hope this helps someone.
