After searching the forum, I have seen several threads asking about a "save for later" or "save progress" feature and it looks like the only way to accomplish that is available is the ViewLink and EditLink tokens that can be sent in an email as part of a form completion event.  Is that correct, or did I miss a new feature somewhere?

If that's the only option currently available, that still wouldn't allow a user to "save" (submit) a form unless all the required fields were at least entered, right?  So a user who wanted to complete a partial form and return to it later would have to fill out as much of the form was set to required before being able to submit.  Also, there wouldn't be a way for the admin to know whether the user is actually done with the form, or still editing...

Please let me know if I have missed something.  It seems that this feature has been requested several times, and starting a few years back, so I want to be sure.  Thanks!

    Hi Cheryl,

Yes, the form will actually have to submit in order to save it for editing later.  There are a number of solutions for the admin issue.

    1.  You can offer a field similar to the "Is the form complete?" question in Demo 23.   Then, create an email event that will go to the admins only if the Form Complete is selected.

    2.  Dynamic Forms 3.4 now offers the ability to automatically submit the form based on a user response so that may enhance the user experience.

    3.  You can also use Dynamic Views 2.0 to let your admins run reports.  You can filter it by specific user responses also so you can limit results to Form Complete only.

(By the way, you can also use Dynamic Views to let the users find their form submissions where you can offer an edit button and get them to the form.)

Hope that helps you set the design direction for your project. Let us know if you have other questions. Thanks!

Thanks, Candace.  Is there any plan for upcoming releases to have a "save progress" feature (where all required fields don't need to be completed yet)?  If not, is that something that we could pursue with DataSprings through a custom solution?

    Hello Cheryl,

I haven't heard of any features like this on the enhancements list for Dynamic Forms, but I'm sure this can be done through a custom solution. If you'd like to submit your project specifications to us, we could overlook your requirements and give you our input on estimated hours and total cost of the project.

Please follow this link to fill out your requirements so we can get you a quote:

If you have any questions please let us know.

    Thanks Cheryl,

    Ryan
