This is my first attempt using Dynamic forms. I am trying to use a combobox that is SQL driven and the source is the DNN_Users table.
I am using select LastName as QuestionOption, Lastname as QuestionOptionValue from DNN_Users
I have also tried dbo.DNN_Users and databasename.dbo.DNN_users.
Is their some configuration I need to do to allow SQL to work?

Hi... That query does look correct but it depends on what your object qualifier is and so forth.
What happens when you go and run this query under Host/SQL? If you check the box that its a script, what error do you receive?
Thanks,
Chad

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: The ConnectionString property has not been initialized. --->
hmmm, it looks like I do need to configure something. I guess my issue is bigger than Data Forms. I am new to DNN as well if you cannot tell.
Is it not using the connectionstring that DNN uses to get to the DB?

Hi Steve - Well its difficult to tell exactly what the problem is... I am assuming something is missing from the web.config so I would maybe ask your hosting provider or if you are hosting it yourself I would compare your web.config to an out of the box web.config for DNN and specifically related to the connection strings. I do know that when this is working properly in DNN under Host/SQL then it will also work fine in our module. Our module uses the same connection string method that DNN uses... I believe that there might be two seperate areas in DNN to input your connection string (one under connection and another under app settings) so you might check both locations.
Thanks!

thanks for your help. Perhaps the ISP has limited the SQL for security reasons. I will ask them about that.
Once this is working, can I use a stored procedure in the data forms module instead of a free edit sql statement

Hi Steve - I would not imagine that is the situation, I think it would be a missing connection string in the web.config or something but I could be wrong... It seems like it would be difficult to limit it in one area but not others.
Yes, and that is the recommended approach... our modules do use some security measures to help prevent SQL Injection however its always better to use stored procedures.
Thanks!
