I am interested in displaying a dynamic list of check boxes.  The list would be populated from a SQL statement that is fired off when the form is viewed.

The user will select many different checkboxes and then select the "Next" button and be shown their selections from the previous screen.  Once they review their selections, they will continue and select the "Submit" button and emails are sent accordingly.

How do I go about displaying the selection(s) of the selected check boxes?  I understand that I have to have a hidden field on the "Submit" screen, but will thatbe all that I need to do to populate a summary?

    Thanks,
    -Shane

    Hello Shane,

I would recommend taking a look at demonstration 31 as this demonstration focuses on creating a multiple paged form with forward/previous navigation with a summary of information at the end.

    http://www.datasprings.com/formdemos

I would recommend downloading this demonstration and having a look at the enabled settings along with all of the events being used.

If you have any questions please let us know.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

I would like to know how to do this as well and I have looked at Demo 31 and followed the steps. I am unable to pull a single data entry to the second page no matter what method I try. I have downloaded the demo and loaded it on a test server. It does not appear to have any settings for the fields in the demo, so it tells me nothing. Also, the form completion events are there but most have no settings in them so I don't get anything from that either. The user guide does not explain it in enough detail...
I would just like one full example of entering a value on a form, clicking next to get to the next form, and having that value appear in another entry box. I know if I had those steps, I would have something to work with. I have done this extensively with H20 and had no difficulty with it. I had hoped to have much more funtionality with DF, not less.

    Hello M.Prat,

I would suggest adding a hidden field to your form and giving it a shortname DSParam1.

Then go to the Advanced Field Options, and start with a SQL default value with SQL similar to this:

    select substring(replace(newid(),'-',''),1,19) as DefaultValue

Now you have a unique string that you can pass page to page via querystring. For this question field be sure to go under Advanced Field Options and check the checkboxes, retrieve and pass to querystring variable. This is one of the most essential steps to get this process/navigation going.

Then I would read through the Demonstration 31 and you should be able to get further in this long process.

Also Dynamic Forms is the most versatile and Dynamic module for creating forms. I know that when it comes to being a new user or intermediate user of Dynamic Forms it can seem difficult to use or limiting, but Dynamic Forms is anything but limiting.

There are usually several techniques to accomplish the same functionality when it comes to using Dynamic Forms.

As for what you're trying to do, I understand this can be frustrating learning how to pass querystrings, use SQL binding, insert - update flat tables that you create, for these can be considered advanced techniques. I believe Demonstration 31 provides much of the needed information to learn how to use these techniques.

If you have any questions please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
