    Hi there,

I have a question about custom HTML buttons.  Before I start let me explain my objectives.

    1) I want to have a save button and a cancel button that both inherit the styles created from an Artisteer skin template.

    2) Both buttons need to re-direct to the same page, and need to push the DSParam1 query string value to that page.

I have tried to tackle this by creating custom HTML input buttons and creating a question event that is tied to the button to submit the form.  That way I can assign the "art-button" class to the buttons and they look great.

The problem I am having is related to validation.  When I use the regular submit button, all of the validation messages display as they should.  When I use this custom HTML button method, it does some weird stuff.
    • IT displays the validation messages at the top of the form even though "Hide Validation Summary" is checked and "Display validation summary message" is not checked.
    • It no longer displays the required field messages under any of the required fields.
Is this a bug, and is there any way to fix this?
    Using DF version 3.4.5

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,

Well I think the ASP.NET validation routines likely have problems trying to validate the page using the same JavaScript when compared to the regular submit button.

What I would probably try and do might be to...
    1. Set the standard submit button to be visible.
    2. Check the onclick JavaScript via the HTML Source for the submit button
    3. After that copy/paste the JavaScript to your clipboard
    4. Add an HTML Input Button using the HTML Field type, then you can style it however you would like. Then from there set the input button onclick to be the same (paste it).

This way when the form submission is handled it should think that its the exact same as the standard submit button?

    Thanks,

    -Chad
