    Hi Guys and Gals,

I am trying to figure out how to use the variable $(Calc_TotalField) as outlined in your manual for DF.  I have looked at your Demos however, I am a bit confused.  I have a very simple integration.

I have one question (called $(giftamount)) which is a series of radio buttons which show an amount of $50, $100, $250, $500, and 'Other'.  Other = 0.

When other is selected a question event brings forth a new question (called $(otheramount) that is "Other Amount".  This is a text box field that the user can enter any value of .01 or greater.

I am using PayPal standard as my gateway.  I was under the assumption the process to make this work is to go into Module Configuration and then Calculation Total (optional)

I then added the two variables which should be added together as such:  ($(giftamount)+$(otheramount)).  I then added $(Calc_TotalField) to my PayPal parameters where amount=$(Calc_TotalField).  However, when it goes to PayPal the amount is 0.

I do not understand why this is happening nor do I know how to fix it.  Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

    Ver:3.40.50.0 / 6.1.1

    Hi Dennis,

I hope you are doing well!

In this case I believe unfortunately you would need to use a client side event to be able to handle this and possibly a try/catch within the JavaScript. The field you are referencing should be able to handle this but only if the field is visible on the form (is other always visible). I think that the field would also need to include a value that was a valid integer and not be blank.

For example, if the field OTHER is visible and has a value of 1 does it work then? I think it is likely erring out because this is meant for visible form fields and its trying to probably add $(Field1) with $(AFieldThatIsNotVisibleSoItErrorsOut).

This has been done many times via a client side event/JavaScript and sometimes an if statement that would populate a hidden field on your form... but I don't have any direct examples I can provide for you.

    Thanks,

    Chad
