Getting ready to let a client loose on a series of DF forms that I have created, but am now getting worried about it.

The forms take forever to load, 10 seconds is the average, even browsed on the server that DF is running on. I am afraid that this is going to cost me a gig as I don't think anyone is cool with such long page loads these days.

I have worked with my dedicated server provider to try to isolate the cause of the delays, but no real culprit has been identified. All my other sites and modules run smokin fast, it is only DF that I am running into this. The only other thing that I haven't tried is to load up my server with more memory and run SQL 2005 STD directly on my box, but most will agree a $2500 expenditure (SQL lic) is hard to justify to support a $125 module!

If anyone can maybe chime in and throw out some possible ideas for speeding up DF I would be most appreciative.

    My enviro is:

    2P 2.0Ghz DC Xeons, 3GB MEM, RAID 10 SAS, Server 2003 STD 32bit.

    Thanks!

    -Ron

Ron, how many form fields does this form have? IS the delay happen simply loading the form and not even submitting the form or anything?

The ticket on Snowcovered had the form code attached to it. Check it out.

I updated the ticket with a reminder also in case that reaches you first.

    Thanks,

    Ron

chad I wanted to update the forum post so that everyone can see the resolution to this. You were awesome in helping identify and diagnose this issue.

Basically it came down to a SQL farm performing poorly. Which is a common situation that most users/hosters run into. Like I stated above, my webserver is robust and clearly not the issue, but my databases were on a shared SQL farm comprised of a few load balanced servers. Even this is no comparison to running SQL locally as now my Dynamic Forms are faster than Chad's!

I even have 7 forms loaded up on a single page using a tab aggregator module (CSS Tabs) and you would think nothing was dynamic in how fast it loads all 7 seven.

DF does send a lot of data back and forth but if the pipe is clear between the web server and databases this will not matter. If there is any throttling or latency though, you may encounter the same issues as myself.

Just bummed I had to use my last SQL STD lic to find this out.

Thanks for the update Ron... Sounds like I need your help in performance testing our servers!

    Thanks again.
