Can I get some basic help with payment calculation and tokens for PayPal? I have two instances for use, but I cannot figure out how to get Dynamic Forms to properly calculate the amounts or identify price.

For example, I have a classified ad system which I want to charge $7 per month per ad. So I set up the form with a drop-down box for a choice of 1,2, or 3 ads. In the Calculation Field, I entered:

    $(Quantity) * 7

The in the PayPal Additional Parameters Fied, I entered:

    &amount=7
    &no_shipping=0

Yet when I test the system and select 2 ads, I still am asked to pay $7. Can you clarify to this SQL neophyte?

    Hi Meredith,

It wants to charge you $7 because you have &amount=7.  What you can do instead is have a Total field on your form (this can be hidden) where your calculated total will be entered.  Then pass this to paypal as &amount=$(Total).

Check out Dynamic Forms Demonstratons.  Demo 15, 16 and 17 cover PayPal settings.  Demo 20 will help with calculations.  Thanks!

Thanks, Candance. Unofrtunately I feel like this demo is missing bits of info that may be obvious to SQL coders but not to amateurs like me (sorry).  Based on the demo, I added this into the PayPal Gateway section:

    &item_name=CinCHouse Classified Ads
    &amount=$(amount)
    &no_shipping=0

I deleted the caluclation option code. Then for each item, I added the values into each item's "Update Option Value". So for Item 1 (one Classified ad), I put:

    amount=7

For two classified ads, I used: "amount=14" and so on. These  are the tokens used by PayPal.

Finally, I delibertaely cut and paste these terms here because I ultimately get the PayPal error. What could I be doing wrong now?

    Hi Meredith,

Can you please email me with the site's url with edit rights (preferably host) so I'll go in and check your settings. Thanks!

Thanks to Candace's awesome help, it's fixed. But I thought I'd post how in case other amateurs need the help.

    1) The module had to be visible to all for PaylPal to see it.

    2) In the drop down list of quantity, each quantity simple had the dollar value (7.00, 14.00, etc.) listed in Update Value Option. Unlike the Demo #16, there was no other code.

    3) The code in the PayPal Gateway read as follows:

    &item_name=CinCHouse%20Classified%20Ads&amount=$(AdCount)¤cy_code=USD&no_shipping=0&email=$(Email)&first_name=$(FirstName)&last_name=$(LastName)
