Major Issue With Lost Content In Other Languages

    When you are using four languages and you enter authorised text and unauthorised content for each, it is frequently overwriting the wrong languages row in the database. i.e. you enter german text for a block and update, then enter french block of text and update, go back and look at german and its french! or in my case the first language in the list.

    I cant quite nail whats causing it, but its making this module very unsafe to use. As it seems to overwrite your content, today ive lost hours and hours of my weekend to this module!!!


    Why does this happen? how can i stop it, is there an update for this module?
    Help i cant keep readding all the content over and over again, just to get it to save in the correct place. Ive taken to doing this in the database by hand!!!

    Hi. We are working to duplicate this now on the betasprings.com site. We have a few other minor changes we are making so if a patch is needed we can get it out by the end of the week. For now I would suggest just updating per language. If you can find any exact steps to duplicate the problem that would of course be a big help for us to replicate it and get a quick fix.

    no we never did, i did find a work around though, but its been two years and i cant remember it properly.

    something about only doing one language at a time, then navigating away and back to do another language. or doing authorised first saving it all off and then doing the other... sorry cant remember it has been the best part of two years after all. i do remember that it centrered around not doing to many steps one after the other so to speak. just do one bit, make it all saved and then do another.. sorta baby steps and it kept itself working ok...

    But basically we came to the conclusion that the module was unsafe and went elsewhere for this funtionality as we didnt want to raisk losing our hard work every time someone else made a change but didnt know about this bug.

    This was a while ago and they "may" have fixed it sicne, i couldnt comment on that.

    thanks for your reply mathew!  out of curosity, did you find a better module and if you don't mind what was it and by whom.  I can't beleive this is an issue 2 years later......

    Hi guys... Thanks to Terry we were able to reproduce the error earlier today (I think this was actually fixed at one point and then came creeping back but I could be wrong). It does appear that it works properly if you update each language individually but I understand that is not the best work around.

    The updated release of 2.1 should be ready within a couple weeks, just undergoing this fix and updated documentation. The primary enhancement in the module is the ability to now use a SQL Databind feature for an entire row of data instead of having to create individual SQL Tokens for users using that feature.

    Hi guys... Just a follow up here. We discovered what was happening because it was losing values between authorized/unauthorized radio buttons and the specific language at the time. We have this fixed for the upcoming 2.1 release. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.
