Is there any way to show if an user is online/offline and perhaps show a pictrue (like red/green circle)?

    Thanks

HI, I don't believe this is possible unless you know know how DNN keeps tracks / identifies the userid of a person is logged in. Another words, do you know which SQL table DNN stores information about the currently logged in user? Also, DUD is based on user profile property and a "logged in" user is not a profile to begin with so it would simply not show up.

On the other hand, if we can find out where the data is stored in, you can use our upcoming new module Dynamic Views that is very similar to DUD except it has an option to use customized / user defined SQL query to retrieve data for viewing in the template. -- David

    Hum.... I see

I have a module from Ventrian ... "where are they" that show's users logged in per page...

That value could be coming from SQL

I'll take a look at the source see if I found something...

It would be nice if DUD could make use of SQL... It would be GREAT indeed!!

    thanks for the reply David

    Hi David....

I just started thinking about this five minutes after my last post, and I though... "how does it work for the core UserOnline Module?"

So, yeah the values are in a database (has long was you have UO active in your host settings and ofc the related Scheudle job)

It would be relay nice to see SQL integrated to DUD... Its realy the only way this would be possible.

Forms And Lists is another core Module that uses somthing similar, tho its more simple... you can select "User.IsOnline" or something like that from the DataTypes, but I think that value also comes from the UO table.

Okay, I believe this can be done then.
    1) create another DNN core profile called "UserOnline" or something
    2) use the same SQL statement that you specified above to insert/update the profile field with an image link of green or red
    3) but you would use that SQL statement from inside the following stored procedure "Datasprings_RetrieveDNNUserProfileData3"; put it ahead of everything else since you want to update the profile first before doing anything else

Hum... I see the way this is suppose to work...

So I've created the UserOnline has a text field, since it only need to store the image path...

What I don't get is how would I update that value... where do I use that procedure?

You can create your own SQL procedure and call it inside the "Datasprings_RetrieveDNNUserProfileData3" at the very top since you want to insert/update that profile first before our stored procedure gathers the data. -- David

Just a follow up on this as Dynamic User Directory 3.1 is right around the corner (this week)... We have added a [UserOnline] token to the release with a default image(s) for when a user is online or not online and you can also change these images.

    Thanks!
