Hi - I moved my site to a new dedicated server running Win Server 2008.  While on the server I can access the site via localhost and everything works fine.  However, when accessing the site via the web I cannot see the Image Rotator.

The machines I used to test it all have flash player installed; and I was able to test it successfully running locally on one of the test machines.

Is there a setting on the server that I need?

    Thanks

    Hi Robbie,

Is the module itself not visible or are the images not displaying correctly?  Thanks!

    Hi Candace

Browse to here : www.ectoolz.com and you should see the result.

It should be a rotating cube on a black background.

Thanks for looking at this for me.

    Hi Robbie,

What setting do you have for Image Effects?  You must choose 1 for the Image Rotator to work.  Thanks!

    Thanks Candace

Problem solved. It was the path to the images. It was set to localhost, so after changing to the external IP it works fine.

Is there a way to avoid this problem - like a wildcard for the location of the images? I know that when I access the site from within our intranet I have to use a local IP address - so the images will be lost again.

    Thanks

    Robbie

Typically, a relative path might help in this kind of situation but I don't know that the module can use a relative path.  I'll bring this up with the dev team for possible addition to future releases.  Thanks!

    Hi Robbie and Candice,

Have you looked at your site using Internet Explorer 7? When I do, your rotating cube is invisible. It shows up fine under Firefox. This is the same problem I am having on my site. I looked on my site using several computers and every time the flash can be seen in Firefox but not IE7. I am curious Robbie if you can see yours in IE. My ISP says that for some reason the XML code related to my flash is being pulled correctly in Firefox but not IE.

    Chip

Interesting note: I looked at the source code for Robbie's page and for mine, and my code is pulling an older version from macromedia: my codebase cab#version=6,0,29,0 compared to  7,0,19,0 for Robbie. Not sure if this is meaningful...

    Hi Chip,

Thanks for posting the useful details... The reason I didn't/don't think its related to the actual module itself and/or the codebase and Cab# is because on your web site I actually just tried to reference the full URL in the browser (outside of the codebase/module HTML or anything) and it didn't work either.

Also... Does it work for you on your browser and on our demo pages here on www.datasprings.com? Does it work on www.betasprings.com for you (you can sign in as host/dnnhost).

One option is that we can use a Text/HTML module and basically just pull the text /HTML from the Dynamic Image Rotator module and insert it into the a text/HTML module. I have done this before with other clients that wanted to insert it into their skin etc... This would allow us to change the Cab# or really anything we would want to and see if this makes a difference.
