    Hi-

I'm trying to get a clean copy of the excel export file.  The data from my sql works ok, however, the excel files contains other data: rowid, ViewDetailLink & ViewDetailLinkURL.

I've created the custom view withouth these fields but they still show up in the excel export file.  Not sure if this is a bug or if I'm missing something in the setup?

    thanks,

    Curtis

HI, even if you don't have it in your template, the token was available so it must have gotten exported even if it wasn't displayed. When you generated the columns, can you try deleting those columns that you don't want and see if exporting to excel will work and they don't get exported? -- David

I clicked "Clear / Delete All Columns" then > "Generate Column Names .  Only my 3 columns show up on the module configuration > clicked save.  Tried the export and still have the extra columns.

I first tried to manually add my 3 columns and had the same result as above.

I then tried "Clear / Delete All Columns" (available columns shows empty)  then > save.  Clicked the export link and receive a critical error: Invalid column name 'RowID'".

I first tried this with a "clean module" and on the view template page, simply clicked save/ exit (i miss my "save and exit" like on DF).  I had no view, simply the export link (with a bunch of white CR's where the data should be (I was also hoping to use this module as a user export for multiple sql statements, however, the view still shows as many rows as the data exist, just blank without the view tokens)?  Opening the xls file still showed the extra columns.

HI Curtis, I've managed to duplicate this on my localhost environment. On my sample test, it will also export certain system tokens (rowid, viewdetaillink, viewdetaillinkurl) on the spreadsheet even though we never included them in the view. I have notified Chad of this. In my opinion, it's not really a bug but more or less of a feature enhancement request to not include these default system tokens in the export. -- David

I see.  In that case, I would love to take it one step further...

It would be great if the module itself had 2 different "modes" (select "view and export" or "view" or "export") .  A "view mode" for producing a view and an "export mode" for producing multiple exports based on different criteria.  I know this could be achieved with having multiple modules on a page with different sql queries, however, it would be nice to have the option to turn off the view so that all you see is the export link.  I would think this would then require a seperate section to configure the export criteria, like an export template (much like there is already a seperate config area for the view template)

as always, thanks again for the thorough response

    Hi Curtis,

Thanks for your thoughts and feedback. I think this would be a great enhancement and I have added it to the list for review in future updates. Basically I think whenever you choose 'Generate Columns' you could have an option there (next to the delete icon) to either mark that column as viewable for Export or not viewable for an export. I think this would probably be the best way to go.

    Thanks,

    Chad

Has there been any action done against this issue? Has there been a fix implemented to remove those built in tokens from showing up in the Excel export?

Ok, looks like I got them removed. I am using SQL free form. I had to manually add the same columns (the build-in tokens) to the list, and turned off export on those specific columns. Looks like it worked.
