    Hi

I thought that this would be an easy thing, but I guess not.

I have a list of emails that corresponds to the users in the DNN. I want the accounts that correponds to this list of emails to be included in a existing security role.

I import the CSV file into the system. declare the column as E-MAIL, select Role Settings as the role I wanted to update, add an event "Only Import Updates". When I run the import, it always fails.

The log says that the file is successfully loaded,. but on each record, it says the user status failed with Invalid Password. What is happening here?

    Any assistance is appreciated.

HI, on your CSV file, can you tell us the columns you have available for mapping? Thanks. -- David

Well, I think I found the problem and came up with another bigger problem.

I changed my CSV file to include the username, email, first name and last name. After the import, the security roles do get imported correctly. Previously, I only used the email address, which I thought would be enough to make this work.

However, I now run into another issue with Dynamic Registration. My registration form has the security roles on the profile (this allows the user to add themselves into their own group). Since I have updated the security roles, it is not showing up in DR profile. Is there a way to fix this? or should I post this on the DR question to the forum?

Well, on your DR form, the "security role" field, is this mapped to DNN core profile? To verify the mapping, can you go to Admin / User Accounts, choose a user to look at and click on "Manage Roles for this user" to see if it maps to the corresponding role that was imported? -- David

No, it is not mapped to a specific DNN Core field. What it does is that during the completion event of that field in DR, it updates the security role. ie field checked -> update security role XXX.

During the user import, the security roles are updated on the DNN core correctly (ie. Admin/User Accounts/Manage Security Roles). however, this is not updated on the DR profile.

HI, I'm still not quite following what is going on. Is this a site we can have host access to? If so, can you use the "Contact Us" on the leftpane and send us the host info along with URL/TABID of dynamic registration page? Also reference this forum post. Thanks. -- David

unfortunately it is production site so I can't give you access. However, the problem is not as complicated as it looks. The main problem is with Dynamic Registration. Dynamic Registration allows you to create a checkbox list and update the security roles from the user profile using Event Completion depending on which checkbox is selected, correct?

So what happens when someone updates the security roles using DNN Admin? Dynamic Registration doesn't pull the security role information and update the DR form. So there's now a disconnect between what the system is storing and what DR is showing.

So my question is, who do I synchronize security roles in DNN with Dynamic Registration form? (I really should move this to the DR forum).

Well, here's the problem (at least based on what I can see). The checkbox list field will show you roles and the role completion event will add them to the role depending on which is picked. But note that each DR field is tied to a DNN core profile field. The checkbox list, even if it's tied to the DNN core profile field, will still have a disconnect because that profile field isn't related to the DNN security roles arena.

Perhaps what you can do is create a readonly listbox (driven by an SQL query) on your DR form to show the user what roles they belong to currently. This way, you will still have the checkbox list to add them to new roles, etc. -- David
