I set up a Item/List template and a View Detail, I added the [ViewDetailLink] in the Item template.  When I view the data the Item List displays correctly and the Views Detail link takes me to another page but no details are displayed.  Could it be due to Friendly URL?  Do I need to install another instance for the detals.

When I use the [ViewDetailLink] it produces the following URL:
    http://www.xxxx.com/Management/www....59831.aspx
Note the domain is repeated thus it is not a valid URL.

When I create my own hyperlink and use [ViewDetailLinkURL] as the hyperlink it works.

Is there any way to return from the details to the List view other than using the browsers Back button? How about a way to keep the List view always visible and the Details down below?

    Hi John,

    A couple things here...

    1. So the [ViewDetailLink] doesn't work but the [ViewDetailLinkURL] does? Can you confirm the differences between the two links?

    2. You for sure don't need a 2nd instance of the module at all.

    3. I am not sure if its a token or now but I know you can create a 'Back' hyperlink with the JavaScript to go back. I believe the JavaScript is history.go(-1). You can check the hyperlink example here though: http://www.crowderassoc.com/javascr...utton.html

I don't really know a way to keep the details down below and the list view always avaliable however that would be a great feature.

    FYI

I have just done a first implementation of DV. I got the same thing happening as above eg. point 1. the [ViewDetailLink] doesn't work but the [ViewDetailLinkURL] does.  ViewDetailLink was sending me to an IIS7 404 error page.

    hi, all --

Hmmm .... my experience is that both [ViewDetailLink] and [ViewDetailLinkURL] build the link incorrectly. For example, the former gives:

    http://dgsinsider.dgs.ca.gov/itsd/Home" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://dgsinsider.dgs.ca.gov/itsd/Home
    /dgsinsider.dgs.ca.gov/itsd/Home/TestDynViews/tabid
    /191/CurModuleID/553/DetailView/True/DetailID
    /02a53afc-1201-46eb-8252-276f80245aa8/Default.aspx

    the latter gives:

    http://dgsinsider.dgs.ca.gov/itsd/Home" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://dgsinsider.dgs.ca.gov/itsd/Home
    /%3Ca%20href='dgsinsider.dgs.ca.gov/itsd/Home
    /TestDynViews/tabid/191/CurModuleID/553/DetailView
    /True/DetailID/02a53afc-1201-46eb-8252-276f80245aa8/Default.aspx'%3EView%20Details%3C/a%3E

    what actually works:

    http://dgsinsider.dgs.ca.gov/itsd/tabid/191
    /CurModuleID/553/DetailView/True/DetailID
    /02a53afc-1201-46eb-8252-276f80245aa8/Default.aspx

NOTE:  the forum editor is throwing in gratuitous target and rel attributes, but you get the drift.

Can the Views module recognize the tabid and moduleid tokens?  If so, we could build the link with those and the UniqueID.

(Just checked, and it only knows the [uniqueid] token, so one must manually add the literal tabid and moduleid to build a link)
