Hi.  Is there anyway to include the user's role name in the E-mails  sent by the system?  This is useful if your site offers more than subscription option and you want to remind the subscriber of the subscription level they're currently "at."

     Hi Rick,

Since the reminders are set per role, you may choose to add the Role in the subject line or just add it as text in the email body.  BTW, did you get a chance to upgrade your Renewal Reminder, yet?

    OK, another quick question.

I've set up four renewal reminders of 45, 30, 15 and 1 days, with verification delays of 45, 30, 15, and 1 day respectively. I'm unsure how the Host/Schedule system interacts with Renewal Reminder. If I set the Schedule is set to Every 60 Minutes as it shows in the manual, what does this mean? Does this mean that every 60 minutes RR sends out reminders based on checking its internal calendar and seeing that a particular record's role now falls withing the reminder's date range? What happens if you use the "Catch Up Enabled" feature in the Scheduler?

Will RR send E-mails to accounts that have passed, for example, the 45 day reminder window? And the 30 day window? Will the person whose role is expiring receive several reminders all at once?

HI, the Host / Schedule runs at the interval you choose / set it to run. So let's say you set Renewal Reminder with 30 days and 30 day verification delay. If you run the scheduler every hour or every day, the user will only get one email reminder when their role expires within 30 days (because you also have 30 day verification delay). Now if you have 5 days verification delay, then they will get about 6 emails because every five days within that 30 day gap, they will get another email.

But let's say you set the Host / Scheduler for Renewal Reminder to run once every 20 days, then for the same Renewal Reminder rule, that user will only get one email because the scheduler runs once every 20 days so it would run twice in 40 days but your reminder is set up for 30 days so that's why they're only getting one email.

The Host / Scheduler runs at whatever interval you set it at to check the renewal reminder rules so if you set it for 200 days for example, you can miss the entire reminder unless the 200 days is up and it falls within that 30 day reminder gap.

Does this kind of explain to you what the relationship is?

As for sending out email reminders for accounts that have passed, yes it can be done. Simply type in a negative number for the reminder instead. A -30 with verification delay of 5 days would mean that reminders will be sent out within 30 days after the role has expired, at 5 day intervals so after 5 days has passed, you will get an email and after 10 days is passed, you get another email. But again, this is great if you were running the scheduler once a day or once every several days. If you're running the scheduler once every 10 days, then some of the reminders will get missed and you will end up getting only about 3 emails instead of 6.

OK, have followed your advice and am still having some trouble taming Renewal Reminder. This is from an actual message that was sent yesterday:

    "Dear  XXX :

This is just a quick reminder that your Softletter subscription will expire in 30 days on 6/15/2010 ."

I've checked each E-mail that's send by RR and the date is right for each piece. The 30 day piece says 30 days in the E-mail.

There's also a 15 day piece; in the E-mail, the 15 day piece has the right days.

Each renewal reminder piece has a delay parameter equal to the time the piece should be sent. 45 days is set to a delay of 45 days, 30 days to 30 days, etc.

The Host/Schedul setting for RR is 1 day, retry 1 day.

So, why was this RR 30 day piece sent yesterday? And where is the 15 day piece which is setup in the system?

The system, today, sent the same thing to the same person:

    Dear XXX:

This is just a quick reminder that your Softletter subscription will expire in 30 days on 6/15/2010 . After your subscription expires, you will no longer be able to access the latest issues of Softletter and much of the site's content, such as back issues of SaaS U Journal, SoftGram, our video archives, and of course our high tech crossword puzzles!

If RR was working correct, it SHOULD have sent the 1 day notification!

What's going on? RR seems broken.

Hi Rick, what version of Renewal Reminder and DNN are you running? Is this a site you can provide us with host access to? IF so, can you use the "Contact Us" and provide us the URL/TABID of the renewal reminder page and the host login info? Thanks. -- David
