When I update data via 'initial and import updates' via 'overwrite existing users' with the username selected, it does NOT update the user info (i.e. password, email, etc) and this is in the log file:
NOT Updating Information for update such as firstname, lastname, email, etc...
Updated User:williamstewartER - MDA Marketing Materials
However, it does update the roles and it does read the record (there is no error)... It simply does NOT update the general info fields. Why not?

HI, can you provide screenshots of your steps, particularly 2-4? Are the fields (firstname, lastname, etc) being mapped accordingly? -- David |

I'm having the same problem... was there a solution?
I've mapped the username, password, first and last names correctly, but get the error:
NOT Updating Information for update such as firstname, lastname, email, etc...

Hi SK, Let me ask you a few questions. 1. What is your DNN version? 2. What is your exact module version from Host > Module Definitions? 3. How is the mapping done? Can you please verify that you've mapped the credential fields in DNN Core Integration (not on the field level)? 4. If it still does not work, please tell us exactly what is happening? 5. From Admin, Event Viewer, do you see any related errors? Thanks! Candace

Candace, We're using DNN 5.6.1 Interactive User Import 2.10.0 On the first try I mapped two DNN fields (Username and Password) to the fields in the uploaded file that have the Username and Password. I was trying to update the password, it did not update. The second time I mapped Username, Password, First Name, Last Name, ran the update with the same result. In each case, on Step 4, I selected to overwrite based on the Username and Enable Logging. This is from the Schedule Log's Import History: Records:1 Display Name: PortalID:1 NOT Updating Information for update such as firstname, lastname, email, etc... 22 Updated User:22 - mlc User Status(success):22: AddUser total records imported:1; The minimum password length in the Web.config is set to 5, the password length in the updated record is 6 characters. I uploaded one record as a test before I updated all of the passwords. Even though UserStatus indicates that 22:AddUser, that obiviously didn't happen... there is only one user with the username 22. and he has the same password as before the update. What causes the error: "NOT Updating......" Thanks |

Hi... What causes this is that IUI is currently setup to update user profile fields and at this time not user credential fields... This is because when we used to update these we found an issue where it was an all or nothing issue (its really hard to explain but basically user credential fields are username, firstname, lastname, email, and password...) So for these fields they were getting 'blanked out' during the import process if you didn't select these columns. They are updated differently in DNN (and it gets more confusing because some users try importing them with a blank so we don't know if they are really wanting it to be blanked out or an actual value). Anyway, the next release is in development and includes a few things... 1. Ability to import language packs (first to implement this but it will be within all of our modules). 2. Ability to select SQL query instead of just XLS file for the import 3. Ability to choose if you want to import user credential fields for import and which ones There are some work arounds though... These can include: 1. Using SQL Events to handle the update 2. We were able to build a custom version for a customer that did update these fields. The code had a boolean set to true/false, when its set to false (default and covers most implementations) you see the message you see. Thanks, Chad

Thanks Chad, glad to hear there's an explanation and you have a plan to address the issue. |
