    Hi,

I am looking for some advice on how to approach a particular site I am building.  The purpose of the new site is to handle reservations.  On the front page the site will calculate a quote based on a start / finish date.

Once the quote is displayed to the user, they have the ability to confirm the reservation.  As part of completing the reservation, the user needs to provide some additional information such as email address, telephone number, mailing address etc.

Ideally I would like to convert all this data into a registration, so that when a user returns to book a subsequent reservation, they don't have to type all the data elements again.

Is there a way for Dynamic Forms to know if a user is currently logged in? (I.e. Rolls?)

Can I do all of the registration / integration under the advanced field options for integration with core DNN fields?

Do I need the Dynamic Registration module?

I think the best place to start is prompt the user if they are a new or returning customer. My doubt is on what is the next step.  Does anyone have a link they can post showing how they have solved this in the past?

    Thanks!

    Hi Jeff,

There are a number of ways you can implement this.  My first question is this:  Is registration a requirement to make the reservation?  Can a non-registered user make the reservation?

    1.  If it's required, then you're right, the first step is to ask if they are new or returning customer and then redirect to either the registration page or the login page and go from there.  You can control access to the reservation page using roles.

    2.  If it's not a requirement (of if you don't want them to worry about registration until the very end), you can use Dynamic Forms to complete their selections then at the very last page, use Dynamic Registration to create the accont and integrate with your payment gateway.

Both modules have the ability to pass and retrieve values via querystring or session variables so you cn make this happen.

    3.  You can also choose to do everything on Dynamic Forms (including payments), then at the thank you page, offer then the option to register for additional benefits.

Hope that helps design your work flow.  Let us know if you have other questions.

    Thanks!
    Candace
