I got the same thing now after it timeout. I posted a similar problem earlier.

Here is what mine looks like.

    Then the module gives...

Nevermind...I finally got it to work. Maybe my change of authentication setting took awhile to take into effect.

    Hi Ginnie,
I have my module working on an intranet setup within the Company so if your module is on an ISP, I am not sure if this will help. But if its within, and you can get access to the IIS Manager (NOT FROM EXPLORER), this is what I did.

NOTE: My setup is Win Server 2003 IIS6 (So adjust accordingly to your setup)

    1. Open up IIS Manager
    2. Navigate to your Website
    3. Go To DESKTOPMODULES | STOCK QUOTES
    4. Look for the file DataSpringsStockSearch.asmx
    5. Highlight the file and Right Click and Select PROPERTIES
    6. Click on FILE SECURITY tab
    7. Click the EDIT button on AUTHENTICATION AND ACCESS CONTROL
    8. THIS IS THE CHANGE I MADE => UNCHECK the box "INTEGRATED WINDOWS AUTHENTICATION"
    9. OK AND APPLY

Now, the changes in the IIS didnt take effect when I tested the module out. I think it may require a reboot or a restart or the DNN install needs to refresh.

    Hi,

I thought I left a message a while back but I cannot see it.  No, it did not work for me as I am using it on a hosted website.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi everyone,

I was having all the same errors, tried all the suggestions, and pretty much gave up on a solution.

But I just got it working, and feel a bit silly. I did not realize the (display) template area in Settings was blank, but as soon as I pasted in Chad’s samples, everything just worked.

    Hope this helps someone else.
    Thanks , CD

Help Please, the error is back.
When we went live with the site (same server) the error came back. I've uninstalled/reinstalled it, tried the 'Autentication' trick, restarted IIS, cleared cache, ect.
I have to fix this today.

I think I had the same problem, worked one day, then boom...stopped working.

Since you went live, for kicks, I would try to create a NEW page with the same information using a new module too and see if it fixes itself.  I think that is what I did a few months back.

Hi guys... Yes, I think a new module instance for sure can help. The reason is because within the back-end "Settings" area we have defined a module setting there that stores the URL for the web service. So... I am assuming when you "went live" the existing portal alias/URL is no longer valid and this would cause the problem?

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Hi Chuck,
    (Thanks for responding)

No luck on a 'new page' idea. I even tried it compeletly fresh on a different site (same server).

I tested the webservice directly with (site)/DesktopModules/Stock%20Quotes/DataSpringsStockSearch.asmx and it works.
The server can get to Yahoo.
It just errors out from the Module/Page.
If I can beat this I'll let everyone know how.

Hi - Here is another thing to check... Go to Admin, Site Settings when you are signed in as host. Are there any portal alias's that are there that are not valid alias's?

You can also add ?Debug=True to the querystring when the page loads and it should spit out some additional logging/testing details.

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Thank you for trying Chad.
    All settings look OK.
    Here is my final error...

Well.. In that case I think it probably is related to security. Probably what is happening is that when you navigate into the web service page directly and it works... you are probably using some form of pass through authentication or something etc... but the application is using source code that

Can you tell me what your trust level is set to within your web.config setting? Did the earlier posts related to module security help you out? You might need to change your trust level in your web.config file to be "Full"

    Thanks!
