Good day,
I was wondering if the search allows more than one text to be searched on a single field?
ie. ?Global=Garden&Global=Avon&AutoSearch=True
Thanks

Hello Waway,
You may need to use a comma separated list.
Instead of:
?Global=Garden&Global=Avon&AutoSearch=True
Make the Querystring values pass like this:
?Global=Garden,Avon&AutoSearch=True
Now as for your Search Field make this a "Contains" field.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
I tried that but it does not work. The search does not return any result.
Any ideas how to make it work?
Thanks

Hello Waway,
If you can't get this to work, then the only other way that you could accomplish this is to have a profile property field that stores a comma separated list. That way when you pass the query string the values can be used against the new profile property you made.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan, No dice. Looks like the search string is being read as a single string. It's not separating the string by the comma. Any other advise? Thanks, Waway |

Hello Waway,
I have done this before in Dynamic Views, you basically just need a column with these values and then use a search field that uses the "Contains" search function only.
Then you could bring back multiple selections. The concept is very similar in Dynamic User Directory.
Thanks,
Ryan

i have created a column already called Global and it contains values similar to what's below: garden,linen,nosmoke,TV,washing,campfire,bbq,bathroom,Honeymoon,4x4,Rainforest,RiverAccess I've tried search using the 2 options already ?Global=garden&Global=tv&AutoSearch=True and ?Global=garden,tv&AutoSearch=True but I still didn't get any result. I did however manage to get a result when i used ?Global=garden, linen&AutoSearch=True I'm assuming because garden and linen are beside each other. PS I don't have Dynamic View. I think just because it works in Dynamic view means that it will work with Dynamic User Directory. |

Hi Waway, Although the 2 modules look very similar, they actually have different functions. DUD works with profile properties only while DV can use a variety of data sources. You might check out the blog where Ryan explains the difference in further detail http://www.datasprings.com/news/blog/postid/19 Thanks! Candace |
