    Hi
I have setup a new form for an upcoming event. I actually Exported a working Form and imported into the new site. And I customized the form (mainly removed some fields).

    Software Environment:
    DNN 5.6.1
    Dynamic Forms 3.4

    Form Completion Events:
    1. Email to User
    2. Redirect to "Thank You" page.

Problem: On Form Submission, the form gets submitted properly. Form Results get captured (I am able to see and download the records via "View Form Results" link), Page Redirection occurs (to Thank You page), but Emails are not sent out.

    Insights from my Investitation:
    1. In the Debug Mode, I see the Emails are composed properly as per my settings in the Form Completion Event. But the actual email is not sent out.

    2. The Portal Email system itself is working (I am using mt Google Apps Email as the SMTP service under Host Settings >> SMTP Server). When I click the "Test" link, the SMTP test email is sent; "Email sent successfully" - message is displayed. I am actually receieving those SMTP Test Emails.

    3. I have setup a "Contact Us" Form using the "Form and List" module. On submission of that Form, I am getting the Email as per Email Settings of the "Form and List" module.

    4. When a new user registers, the Emails are sent properly ("Verified" Registration). Also, password update emails are sent out properly.

    5. Based on the above observations, I can safely conclude that the portal's SMTP settings are OK and other Emails are being sent from the portals properly.

    6. The original Registration Form (based on Dynamic Forms v3.4) also worked earlier (last year); I just removed few fields and all Question Events; I now have only TWO Form Completion Events. (One is Dynamic Email (priority is 0; and the other is Page Redirection- priority is 5). The Page Redirection event works fine. Email doesn't work.

We need to release the form tomorrow Would you please let me know if you can help me with any tip?

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    VJ

I say this only because it has happened to me on more modules than just DF. Make sure the embeded email address is correct. Is the user's email address correct? If you are testing are you logging in as a user? I have had several occasions where the system seemed to know that I (the admin, a cc) was the same address as the $(email) one and only sent one email.

If the Completion Event is not parsing the token correctly I have no ideas, but offer the user/admin blunder ideas above in the spirit of this community.

    Hello VJ,

Can you please let me know if you still need assistance with this.

What does the email address look like in the From, To, CC, or BCC sections??

Also try firing this completion event and then go to Admin -> Event Viewer and please let me know if any errors are logged. Anything like "Email Address" not in valid format??

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

I'm also having this issue (sort of).
If you look at view form results it's all in there, but it's sending the email with (no subject) and no information in the email??
So I redid the event, it worked, but now it's started doing the (no subject) thing again... this is only since the last update to dynamic forms.

    Hello Amy,

Please let me know what fields you have provided information and haven't provided information for in your email completion event. Do you have a To, From, Subject, etc... Please give me as much information as you can.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Ryan,

It is happening in forms both with To, From, Subject and ones that do not have a "from" field but have all the others. It's even happening with forms I haven't touched in months.

    Hello Amy,

Please let me know if this link fixes you up:

Just disable AJAX and see if this works for you.

    Thanks,

I had something very similar to this today, my problem was that I had a file upload field and I had an incorrect value in the 'Alternative File Upload Map Path' setting.  Once I cleared it out, the messages were sent with subject and details.

It's possible that I may have had the slashes round the wrong way, but as clearing it out worked I'm afraid that I didn't do any more testing.

    Hello Amy,

It seems that the next step is to see if this is a user specific issue or a wide spread issue that can be duplicated on any environment. So with that said, can you please visit our test environment www.betasprings.com and try to duplicate the issue you're having.

    The login credentials:

    host     /      dnnhost

If you have any questions please let us know.

    Thanks,

It has taken me a while but I have finally got around to doing this!

I have imported the content directly from my site onto "Test Page". (It sits all the way down the bottom of the page for some reason)

I looked under the form events and noticed it had my mail event as "sendquote(0)" instead of "sendquote(email)" until I clicked into it, then all the details came back again?? Maybe this is the issue.

Anyway, can you please take a look at it and try and see where the problem is occurring. It also occurs in about 3 or 4 of my other forms and has only started happening since the update, without me changing a single thing.

    Hello Amy,

I have seen this happen during the use of IPortable(Import / Export) features.

This would explain why your events are working. But once you alter the completion event does the completion events work??

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Hi Amy,

This sounds like a big issue related to emails on DNN 5.6.1 as you'll see in this thread. Chad offers workarounds like changing the the regex for the email in Admin, User Accounts and not using an email from name in your events.

    http://www.datasprings.com/products.../aft/23380

However, DNN 5.6.2 has been recently released and has fixed the problems so we encourage you to upgrade to this DNN version.

    Thanks!
    Candace

    Hi Candace,

I have updated the DNN as you have said, but it still did not fix the issue.

I have also tried the workarounds and they have not worked.

Ryan - it fixes the issue once you go in and edit the event, but it only works once and after that it reverts to sending every time with (no subject).

I am getting really frustrated with this as nothing seems to work and every time we get an email sent to us we have to go into the website and view form results .

    Hi Amy,

I'm sorry for the frustration as we try to figure out what is causing the problem on your site. Let's do a couple more things to narrow it down:

    1. Please go to Admin, Newsletter and send yourself a test email from there (just add your email address). Are you able to receive this? If not, that tells me that email on your site is not working in general (not just on Dynamic Forms). You may have to work with your hosting company to configure your SMTP settings in Host, Host Settings.

    2. If you do receive the email, then we can try to look at other things. Please use the Contact Us form and send us a screenshot of your email event. Please include the URL to this forum thread as a reference.

    Thanks!
    Candace

    Amy
We too have the same issues as you and have spend 2 hours trying to figure it out. We found an error in the "event log" as suggested above which suggested invalid format for email.
This led us to look at the email completion event carefully and we noted there are two from email boxes "from email address" and "from email name" - we had stupidly put the email address in the "from email name" box as well as in the "from email address". By leaving the former blank all worked fine.

    Worth a check - John

    Thanks for your input, John.

Amy, would you please let us know if John's suggestion worked for you? Also, I was referring to the Admin tab to find the Newsletter/Bulk Emailer page (not within Dynamic Forms).

    Thanks!

    (1) No, John's suggestion did not work for me and this was already suggested before,
    (2) Yes, I can send myself an email fine via the Bulk Emailer page.

It is odd that this issue pokes it head out over the versions.

I had this issue today on a new install using the following configuration. Hopefully these steps will help others resolve the issue or help DataSprings in finding similar bugs.

DNN: 5.6.1 Professional (I don't think Pro or Community makes a difference in this)

    DF: 3.4.5

    1. Check the event viewer for errors. You will see something like this. InnerException: The email address (My Company Name) is not in a valid format.

    2. Go into the completion event and remove the From name and this allowed the email to go out.

I believe this issue is tied to the RegEx issues in DNN Email. I will upgrade to 5.6.2 to see if that corrects the issue.

If this issue is still happening after upgrade, the upgrade may not correct the RegEx issues 5.6.1 had and it will need to be changed manually per Chad's recommendations in Dynamic Registrations.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

I have this issue as well.
Last friday I updated to the DF 3.4.5 (from 3.4.2 I think). Before this all worked fine, after the update, my mails are sent out blank, no subject and no body. I changed nothing inside the form or the completion event - just did a update.

Unfortunately, this issue is absolutely critical - we use it for business offers and orders.

Please let me as soon as possible know, how to fix this (we use DNN 4.9.5).

    Best regards,

    Joerg

    Hi,

it seems, the problem is solved.
We are using a file-upload-field in the form. After setting this to use the DNN-Upload the email will be sent out - including subject and body.

    Best,

Hi.  Did this issue ever get resolved?
I have been having a similar problem. Emails have just suddenly stopped. Tried removing name & email address as in one of the responses without success. Have tried redoing the form and it stopped after one event.
SMTP & port on the DNN site work fine as I have tested these from outside the Dynamic Form.

I have spent a huge amount of time on this with no success. I need some help!!
    Using the following,
    DNN version: 05.06.02 (144)
    DF version:  2.70.5

    Thanks - in anticipation.
