    I have tried and tried and it will not work. If I put in a very simple piece of code:

    alert($(LeadSource));

    The code will not run. I this $(LeadSource) works in the HTTP post just fine. The field is set to a hidden field. It still should work fine.

    If I put this in the "Submit / Save JavaScript" section, the form will not submit.

    Here is my version: Ver:3.40.40.0 / 5.6.2

    I am facing a similar issue as well. I have a simple line of javascript code under Submit / Save JavaScript:

    $(FieldShortName) = "this is a test";

    But it just doesn't work. The token references a textbox field (not a hidden field). Yet for some reason, after the form submission, the field isn't being set to the new value. I confirmed that by using the 'Debug' query string variable.

    If I put this same line of code under Initial JavaScript section it works fine.

    Am I not using it right? Something wrong with my syntax?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Albert.

    Hi This could be a few problems with 5.6.3 as I know there were some JavaScript issues that were fixed in the recent 5.6.5 build of DNN. But... more than likely this is because you have " instead of ' marks in JavaScript. So it needs to be $(ShortName) = 'Test'; instead of $(ShortName) - "Test".

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Thanks for your quick response Chad. Unfortunately, replacing the double quotes to single ones didn't make it work. So are you saying that by upgrading DNN to 5.6.5 will fix this JavaScript issue with your Dynamic Forms module?

    Umm... Well I don't know specifically for this, I use know there was a recent blog post on 5.6.5 related to some JavaScript problems and issues in DNN. In this case though I am not sure why and I would need to test/research your specific Client Side Event more. We don't have any one else repotting this and its a pretty basic/standard feature of client side events so it could be related to how its being rendered, what is the exact field type for this field, is the field hidden at one point, are there other JavaScript errors (you can test the exact error that is happening in FireBug for FireFox).

    What you can do is:
    1. Enable FireBug for FireFox (after downloading and installing it)
    2. Enable the "Console" for FireBug
    3. Enable Debug Mode for Dynamic Forms, this will spit out the exact Dynamic Forms client side event that the module is using).
    4. Finally - Copy/Paste the client side event that is rendered from debug mode into the FireBug Console and run the JavaScript --- What error is returned?

    When all else fails (and actually I don't think this specifically is related to 5.6.5 now that I read it again), you can pick up Premium Support at http://www.datasprings.com/PremiumSupport or hopefully another customer has some feedback if they are running into a similar issue. Client Side Events/JavaScript are not a part of our standard support agreement but I am sure we can hammer it out quickly if you need to with the Premium Support route.

    Thanks!

    A few other things after I reviewed this again from earlier...

    Make sure you have some JAvaScript in the client side event field for your hidden field. In some areas, we only render Client Side Event $(Tokens) for fields that use client side events... this is for performance reason, if you have 100 fields on your form we might only need to replace 4 tokes so the code only replaces tokens that have/use client side events.

    How do you do this? Just place 'Something' in the client side event... this could be a space or maybe:
    var nothing;

    etc...

    Then... If that doesn't work (you can tell if the $(Token) gets replaced by enabling debug mode, then you can go another route where you try alert('test'); does that fire at all? These can help determine the exact issue and if its coming from a field and short field name or if its coming from some other issue where JavaScript is not firing properly. If even a basic alert doesn't work and its not related to the short field name then it could be related to the 5.6.3 issues... You can read more about some of the problems with the JavaScript here:

    Thanks,

    Chad
