I am taking advantage of "Export View Results to Excel" in both Dynamic Views and Dynamic User Directory. However, I do not know how to change the order in which the columns appear in the resulting Excel file. Changing the sort order does not seem to have any effect.
Any suggestions?

Hi Jim - I believe we specified how to set the sort order within Dynamic Views (but only in the most recent 2.2 release). I don't believe this feature works or is supported yet within Dynamic User Directory at this time, I think this might be based on the sort order under Admin, User Accounts, Manage Profile Properties (and then after updating this you need to kick off the Dynamic User Directory schedule again). Its possible this isn't using a sort order though and the query it uses to generate the PIVOT table might need to be modified to allow this to happen.

I went back to my Dynamic Views and modified the sort order but this had no effect on the order of my columns in my Excel download. The sort order in Module Configuration only defines the order in which the columns will be used to sort the data.
I also looked at Profile Properties in User Accounts and the listing of those properties don't seem to correspond to the order they appear in the export nor are the columns alphabetical.
What I ended up doing was what you suggested. I modified my query to change "Select * from TEMPDUDPivot where PortalID=0" to "Select firstname, lastname, email, [etc] from TEMPDUDPivot where PortalID=0." Not only did this eliminate any extra fields that I didn't want to export anyway it also defined the order for the Excel export.

Hi Jim,
That is great to hear.. and yes that is another direct way of handling this, just automatically select only the columns that you want to use and select the columns in that specific order.
