I was making some changes to the SQL on a Dynamic Views page and did something that it really did not like.  I immediately got error messages resulting in this: Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS)!

And cannot get back into the page to correct the error. Is there a back door, or am I hosed!

    Hi Patrick,

This is an annoying bug, sorry about that... I actually have this on my list to review but I need to find out more what specific setting (or combination of setting) creates the problem so I can research it more.

One thing you can do while we research:

    1. You can always keep a copy of your module configuration link handy...

    OR
    2. You could try and navigate to another page, switch to layout mode, and then navigate back to the original page with the problem. Then see if the control panel is in the module menu.

That should at least get you back into the module configuration area so you can fix any query issues etc...

I am not saying you should have to do any of these but just saying while we find the bug it might be able to avoid a headache.

    Thanks,

    Chad

Thanks Chad, I'm actually happy to know that this is something that you be able to eventually fix on your end.

I actually went ahead and rebuilt the page from backup data that I had (although it was tedious!), but I will experiment with your suggestions just in case it happens again.

In my situation, what caused the problem was a bad SQL statement, where I had a select statement that joined several tables together... and I neglected to explicitly give the full name of a field which was named the same in two tables... so an ambiguous reference...

    Patrick,

I feel your pain. I encountered this problem twice now. One time in Dynamic Forms and the second in Dynamic Views. The first time I had to recreate the module I designed from scratch. After that I learned to export my module content often so that I can quickly restore the module by re-adding a fresh module to the page and importing the content.

I have also used Chad's technique of navigating off the page, changing the mode settings to layout and then navigating back to the page to access the "Manage" menu to access the module configuration screen when available.

I can't thank the DS team enough for the export/import content feature.
