    Hello ,
Im using DR 3.2 on a dnn v4.8

I was wondering if there is a way to disable the update registration alltogether.. I will make a module of myown for this.
I dont want when clicking on the username to enter the registration form of dynamic registration.
I need the update registration process to be disabled.

Is there a way to achieve this .

    Thanks in advance

    Hi dd,

In new DNN versions, you can go to Admin, Site Settings, then Page Management where you can assign different pages for Registration and User Profiles.

However, in DNN 4.8, I don't think you have that option, you can only assign one page for your User Profile/Registration page. Please check and confirm.

If that is correct, you might consider setting the Dynamic Registration module to be visible to Unauthenicated Users only. Then add your custom module to the same page and make that visible to Registered Users only.

Just out of curiosity, what features are you adding to your custom module that you can't do with Dynamic Registration?

    Thanks!

Thank you that did the trick..

My  registration form is very large and complex (different field depending different users) and the fields that i want to be update able are very few  so no need to have this large form.
Also i need the user to be able to update his password bu through the DR form it does not ask the user for his current password you can just enter the new password and the confirmation. So i will have to make the change process password by my own.

    Hi d,

I'm glad that worked for you. Let me offer some more tips that might help you out.

    1. Dynamic Registration (DR) gives you the ability to hide/show fields based on a specific user response. Demo 3 in www.datasprings.com/formdemos shows how the questions displayed are different between Employee and Prospective Employee. The demo was done using Dynamic Forms but it works the same way for Dynamic Registration.

    2. Each field can also be shown or hidden by role so you can choose to hide certain fields from registered users if you don't want them changing it afterwards. I believe you can also set them as Read Only for Registered Users.

    3. For the password issue, the original design assumes that since you already entered your password before you get to the update registration page, the old password has already been verified. However, if you need to have this on the form, you have 2 options:

    a. In Module Configuration, Validation, choose to "Force Existing Password for Changing Passwords"

    b. In the same area, you can choose to "Ignore Built-in Username/Password Validation" and create your own on the field level.

DR has a lot of little known features like these so I hope this saves you from having to build a custom module on your own (unless you really want to). Thanks!
