    Hello all,

I am working with DF 4.0.11/DNN 6 and trying to set up a wizard type questionaire using the tabs/panels feature... I can see how i can hide/show panels/tabs.. but i was wondering if there was a way to force the focus to the next panel.. as if i was clicking the tab's button or panels expand button.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Tony

Incidentally... when i'm in VIEW state (having tabs dividing up questions).. it seems that none of my question events fire off... what's weird is, they do work while in EDIT state.

    Any ideas?

    Hello t-bone,

If you enable Firebug(Firefox plugin) on this page is there any errors logged? It sounds like there is code conflict on your page when it comes to Question Events not firing in View mode. I would recommend trying to disable the Drag and Drop(under Module Configuration -> General Settings) and disable jQuery(if you're not on DF 4.1).

As for Expanding the next panel by the click of a button or after tabbing out of the last field in a tab you can definitely achieve this functionality.

What you'll need to do is check the ID of the Panel and use JavaScript to hide or show the panel when you want it to occur. Here's a sample JavaScript snippet:

    document.getElementById('ReplaceThisTextWithPanelID').style.display= ''; // Show panel

    document.getElementById('ReplaceThisTextWithPanelID').style.display= 'none'; // Hide panel

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

Thanks for the response! I understand how to hide/show panels.. but I guess I was wondering if there's a way to show  the panel, then force the focus to the first field on the "new" panel..

Trying to make a long form easy to breeze through without showing all of the questions at once.

I wonder if a Form Wizard might work better.. but i don't like the idea of maintaining several forms vs. 1.

    Hello t-bone,

Dynamic Forms definitely supports multi-paged forms so this is always an option.

I'm not sure if you can set focus on the first field in the Panel that was just expanded. It would be difficult to include custom JavaScript on the front end of things that would set focus to a field based on the expandable [ + ] panel link.

If you must have the set focus on first field, you may want to take the multi-paged form approach.

Let em know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Hello Udaya,

Unfortunately Dynamic Forms doesn't currently have the capability to set focus to a specific tab. However I spoke with Development and hopefully we'll see an ID associated with the tabs in Dynamic Forms.

If the tabs have an ID, then we can use JavaScript to hide, show, disable, enable a specific tab.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
