When I edit the Item/List Template and then save it the page refreshes and goes back to the Generate Default Template layout. I can't get it to display anything else.

    Hi Scott,

Can you tell us your exact module version and your DNN version please? Thanks!

You might also check and see if you have any errors under Admin, Event Viewer and also you might want to go to the module configuration area and save the settings there one time.

    Thanks!

I tried updating the module in the extensions but that didn't fix it. In fact, now I am getting two tables of results when I try to save the template, not one.

I don't see any errors in the event viewer.

    Thanks,

Hi Scott - In that case, please open a support ticket at http://support.datasprings.com and provide us with temporary admin/host rights to the website. We should be able to check it out pretty quickly and find the problem.

    Thanks!

Hi Jeff - Thanks for opening up the support ticket. I checked this out and found the issue... All of our modules seem to have a conflict with the HTML Editor that your site is using... I believe this is the "CKHtmlEditorProvider" editor that is defined within the web.config file. We have had reports of this with all of our modules and I believe this is because of a conflict with the JavaScript files of this module.

Did your website initially have this editor? I ask because I don't believe this is ever delivered as the default editor and we only have a few clients using it. I also think that it does end up working but with a newer version of the editor.

You can switch out the editor by using another one and selecting that editor from within the web.config.

You can go to Host, Configuration Manager and within that area there is a setting:
    defaultProvider="CKHtmlEditorProvider"

You can change that to be the other editors you have defined there such as:
    DotNetNuke.RadEditorProvider

Note: There is a work around for this, you can also choose "Basic Textbox" and enter your HTML there. Then when you hit save and you are not using the CKEditor RichTextBox then the data is properly saved.

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Hi,

Thanks for the fixes. I was able to switch to Basic Text Box and save the changes to the template. Unfortunately I can't simply swap out the text editor. We have 150 users using it right now and changing it would require retraining. Do you have plans for fixing this issue in future upgrades?

Hi - From our research this is caused from some specific JavaScript that conflicts with all of our modules and only specifically this editor. After researching this we believe that the JavaScript issues in question should be changed from their specific code and not our code (for a few reasons but primarily because of standards and also because it affects all of our components and this is the only editor that causes this conflict/problems).

    Thanks,

    Chad

Hi Chad, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, it isn't really an answer to pass the buck onto the CK Editor team. It would be nice if your company could be a little more proactive and maybe work with them to resolve the issue. As it sits right now, I'm going to have to change out either the Forms and Views modules or the CK Editor. Since I have 150 users using the editor and only a hand full using any of your modules it makes more sense to me to simply stop using your modules.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Hi Scott - Thank you for your feedback. The last time we reviewed this we did follow up with CK Editor and never got a response back to work out the conflicting JavaScript. Since I know that this is the only editor that was having problems and I know that this would require some form of an update with all of our modules I had to hold off on any further time researching this issue. I do hope we eventually find a resolution as this has never occurred with the FCK, Telerik, RAD, or Cute editors etc... If you need more immediate assistance that requires our staff to work directly with your specific instances or builds this would fall within Premium Services hours which can be picked up at http://www.datasprings.com/hours. I am not necessarily trying to "pass the buck", it is possible that the full resolution has to come from our component... I am simply saying that further research at this time based on priorities of other issues and requests would fall outside of our standard support if you needed a faster resolution unfortunately.

    Thanks,

    Chad
