can a checkbox has SQL driven data?

    I am using Dynamic Registration as a form for users to update their registration info after they logged in.

    In my form, I have a checkbox and so I like to have a condition on this box like this

    If ismap is not NULL then check the box

    If ismap is NULL then uncheck the box

    The ismap is jus a field from SQl table.

    Can this be done?

    Hello Michael,

    You should add a Hidden field to your form with a Sort Order greater than that of the Checkbox that you wish to use for IsMap. Let's say that the Shortfield name of this hidden field is $(CheckTheBox)

    The Hidden field will need to have a SQL Default Value of:

    Select (case when '$(IsMap)' = '' THEN 'False' ELSE 'True' END) As DefaultValue

    Whatever the checkbox's shortfield name is you need to plug into the SQL Default Value query for the hidden field.

    Then you need to go to Module Configuration -> Advanced Coding Options -> Custom JavaScript file and under Initial JavaScript you'll need to add some JavaScript that will conditionally check or uncheck the checkbox.

    This is only an example of what the JavaScript may look like under initial JavaScript:

    var IsMap = $(IsMap_FieldID);
    var err;

    try{ document.getElementById(IsMap).checked = $(CheckTheBox); } catch(err){}

    Thanks for your help in this matter, but I think I did not give you a whole big picture of my case here, so here it is and see if you have any hint how to implement this

    On my registration form, I have a checkbox and this checkbox is optional. This checkbox has a Question Event that if users checked this box, it will show additional fields below that so users can fill in more information.

    For example, during the registration the checkbox says "Do you want to be on the map?". by default, this checkbox is empty. But when users tick the checkbox, then the form will show additional fields like: country, address, city, state, zipcode for users to fill out information so that I can use their address to put on a google map.

    So after registration, users can manage their profile. Ont he manage profile page, I have the registration form again for them to modify their profile. If the checkbox is ticked (from SQL profile), then I like to show all the additional fields like country, address, state, zipcode. If the checkbox is not ticked, then all additional fields are hidden.

    Here are some screenshots:

    3. After registration is completed, users go to update profile page

    If during registration, user selected the checkbox, then update profile page will have the checkbox checked and the additional fields are shown

    If during registration, user DID NOT select the checkbox, then udpate profile page will have the checkbox empty and the additional fields are hidden untilt he checkbox is checked

    I hope that you understand what I am trying to do here. Can you give me some hints how to implement this?

    Hello Michael,

    I think this will be very straight forward.

    Create a Profile Property and map "IsMap" Checkbox to your new profile property under Advanced Question Options.

    This way if checked "Yes" or "on" will be stored in this profile property. When a User is Managing their account, the profile property will come in for the Checkbox.

    The question event that unhides the fields if the user wants to be on the map, will be fired because it will see that IsMap check box is checked.
