I guess I'm overlooking this, but I cannot figure out how to setup my form so that when the user clicks the submit link/button, it sends an email to me containing the form data (this is a simple contact form).

I thought that the Form Completion events would be the obvious method for sending my email, but I do not want an email sent when something related to a form field happens.  Instead, I want the email sent when the user clicks the submit button/link.  I do not see any way of doing this.

Please help! 

Hello Nate,

You can create a Form Completion Completion event of type "Email". Most Form Completion Events have available tokens that you can use within your templates.

Below is my attempt to help you understand the Token functionality in Dynamic Forms.

Lets say that you have 3 fields on your form with the following short field names:

* FirstName
* LastName
* EmailAddress

You can use $(FirstName), $(LastName) and $(Email) in the Email Form Completion event. This format dictates that you're trying to extract the value from this Dynamic Form Question.

So if I provided "Ryan", "Bakerink", "rbakerink@yahoo.com" then these values will replace the token calls.

If I placed $(EmailAddress) in my Email Template, then when the email is actually sent, $(EmailAddress) will be replaced with rbakerink@yahoo.com.

Well, I understand it better now--I was overlooking the obvious fact that all of the Form Actions are related to submitting the form...I thought they were all related to events in the form itself, and not necessarily form submission.  That's why I was looking for an explicit option to designate "form submission"

Anyway, I have an email action setup but it does not appear to work.  I don't get any errors, I just never receive the email.  I've tried several different emails and different values in the From name and address, but it doesn't make any difference.

My main question at this point lies with the Event Details section.  If I do not want the event tied to a particular value for one of the fields, I just leave that part set to the defaults, correct?

I've attached a screenshot and circled what I am referring to.  I don't care what values are in the form fields, so it should send me an email if I leave those options set to default, correct?

(Also: I might point out that the rich text editor window covers up part of the box that shows the parameters you can use...and you cannot make the editor width any smaller.  I guess there's a setting somewhere in a CSS file where I could change the width of that control in edit mode...but where?  I realize this should probably be a seperate thread...I just now noticed notice this when I uploaded my screenshot....)

If you're not receiving the email you may want to consider looking into your SMTP Server settings. Can you go to Host -> Bulk Email or Newsletters and attempt to send yourself a test email.

Did you receive the email after this test? If you didn't then you'll need to go to Host -> Host Settings -> Advanced Settings and Provide valid SMTP Server Settings. By providing this information, it's enabling you to send emails within DotNetNuke.

Regarding the Circled part of your image, you don't need to worry about the default selected values. When "Any Field Response" is selected, this means there's no condition in which must be checked to see if the condition passes or fails. So in your case, this event should always fire, as long as everything has been configured correctly.

The Telerik editor is a hassle, I prefer to use Basic Mode & HTML. Usually the Editor's have a capability to resize on the bottom right hand corner of the Editor.
