I have created two portals on the same DNN instance and am wondering if Dynamic Registration and the other Data Springs modules allow users and user information to be shared across portals.  Does DNN allow this as a core function?

    Thank you for your help.

Hi Jim - DotNetNuke allows user credential information (first name, last name, email address, and display name) to be shared across portals within the DNN installation however it does not allow user profile properties to be shared.

Our module Dynamic Login can allow for the username and password to work as single sign on between the portals and also the ability to add user roles that the user has (by role name) when the single sign on feature is enabled.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Thanks,

    Chad

My understanding is that the PE edition of DNN allows for sharing of user accounts and other information across portals. Are all of the Data Springs modules compatible with the Professional Edition of DNN?

    Thanks,

    Jim

Hi Jim - Yes, all of our modules are compatible with the professional edition however I would need to know a little more about how this feature works differently in the professional version VS community edition.

    Thanks,

    Chad

This is the link to the video that explains how Site Groups works. Looks pretty amazing.

Hi Jim - I watched the video, thanks for posting that.

    A couple comments:

    1. This really seems similar to what our Dynamic Login module already does with the "Single Sign On" feature. The module can allow the single sign on between multiple portals and also assign matching roles for that user by role name etc...

    2. Are all of your domains setup for the same root domain name? I think that is also required here.

    3. I don't see that this is actually sharing user profile fields. User credentials, yes... But user profile properties? If you can a users postal code in one portal, does it update in both? If you go to Admin, User Accounts, manage profile properties and you update or add a new profile property, does it exist within both portals?

    Thanks!

As I have done more research, I am not certain that this option works for us. The P.E. version of DNN is $2,000+, I believe.

Can Dynamic Registration and/or Dynamic Directory we set up to update and/access information across portals on the same DNN installation. I know Viewer can by using PortalID=? in the SQL query.

    Thanks for your help.

    Jim
