    I am using the $(EditLink) token in emails to allow the user to go change their form and we just noticed that the link is not including the site's domain (rather than starting with http://www..., it starts with the first / after the domain).  Not sure when this stopped working for us, and it's still fine on another site and the test version of this site.  They're all running version 4.10 of the module and nothing has been changed on the forms piece recently.

    What does the code rely on to build the link for that token, that it would be excluding the domain?

    Any help/direction would be much appreciated - we've looked everywhere we can think of trying to figure out where the process is breaking down.

    Thanks!

    Hi Cheryl,

    Hmmm, that's strange. Are you using this in the hyperlink or are you just adding the token in the body of the email?

    Thanks,
    Candace

    We are just using the token in the body of the email, like this:

    Thanks for blah blah blah... Below is a link to edit and submit your form.

    $(EditLink)

    It works fine in other instances, just suddenly noticed that it's missing the domain on this particular site.  Do you know how it builds that link to the editable form?  Is it pulling the domain/portal alias from somewhere?

    Hi Cheryl,

    I hope you are doing well. I checked the source code and it is doing the same thing it always has done (same with View URL etc...). It calls on a DNN function to generate that URL:

    strEditURL = NavigateURL(TabId, "", "&EditItem=True&EditID=" & Me.guidUniqueID.ToString)

    I do see that there is a separate token that you can use called $(EditLinkURL)

    Can you tell me what happens when you use this link? Also, maybe you can use this extra URL to simply create your own hyperlink and add the www.yourwebsite.com/ domain first?

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Thanks, Chad.  I knew nothing had changed on the module end, and I know that's not the problem since it works fine and as expected on our other sites.  What you provided is exactly what I was asking for - so that we can try to hunt down why the domain/portal alias is no longer being included when the function creates the URL.

    Yes, using the $(EditURL) token to build our own hyperlink by concatenating it with the domain piece of the address would work in the interim... but I would much rather figure out why the alias is suddenly missing.  We found that the DefaultPortaAlias field in the PortalSettings table was blank, but that didn't resolve anything.   We're still looking...

    Sorry/Glad someone else is experiencing this issue.
    The navigateUrl function is now (recent) failing for my custom dnn module.
    I do not see what has changed.
    I do see that if url is in form

    https://myDnnDomain.com/childPortalName/Home/tabid/10667/Default.aspx

    instead of

    https://myDnnDomain.com/Home/tabid/10667/Default.aspx

    that navigateUrl will return the domain as needed.

    I will post if I find the answer.

    still no indication as to what changed to make NavigateURL() now fail in returning entire url.  I have instituted an ugly temporary hack to see if url contains child portal name. If not I rewrite as such:

    'incredibly ugly hack to fix navigateUrl failure
        Protected Function fixUrl(ByVal strUrl) As String
            If (InStr(strUrl, PortalSettings.PortalName) = 0) Then
                fixUrl = "https://" & PortalAlias.HTTPAlias & strUrl
            Else
                fixUrl = strUrl
            End If

        End Function

    Thanks for the post and feedback Steve... If you end up finding out the cause let us know.
