    Hi

I purchased Dynamic Forms 4.0, installed on DNN 7 site.  I created a survey form, with an upload file field.  I only want to grant view permission to people who take the survey, however, when I logged in using a user account that has only the view permission, the upload button is not shown. After I grant the Edit page permission to that user, the upload button is shown.  Is there a workaround of this?

    Thanks so much!

    Hello Brian,

How do you determine whether a user has permission to view or doesn't? Is this Security Role based?

If it is and someone is not within that role, then the Upload field will not exist on the page.

So you may want to add a field to the form that will only be visible to people in the Role with View Permission. Then make your current Upload field visible to users in the Edit Permission Role.

    Does this make sense?

    Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Hello Ryan
Thank you for your reply. Say we have a surveyor role, called nissi_surveyor, that role only has view permission to the page. Yet, users with that role are able to submit surveys, except for uploading files.

Following your suggestions, in the Advanced Field Options of that question, Show field by role, I checked nissi_surveyor role (see attached dfissue_settings.gif) But when I log in using the nissi_surveyor role, the field is shown, but no file upload button, see attached dfissue_notshowing.gif.

If I log in as admin, I can see the file upload button, see attached dfissue_shouldbe.gif.

I don't understand, when you say "make the upload file visible to user in the edit permission role", does that mean that users who are not in the edit permission role still will not be able to upload files? But what we need is to let normal survey takers to upload files. Is that possible?

    Thanks much!

    Brian

    Hello Brian,

Can you please provide me with a URL to this form? Anytime the File Upload control disappears, it's typically due to one of the following cases:

1.) Initial SQL Binding Query is causing an issue / erroneous query.
2.) There's a JavaScript issue on the page.
3.) Roles are set incorrectly for visibility of this File Upload.

You can send the URL to your form(with an Admin Login) to dnnsupport (at) datasprings (dot) com

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
