    I've got a basic contact form on our site. There's a field where they enter their address, so I've got the "From Email Address" pulling the data from the $(Email) field. Works fine unless...

    Trouble is that we have an older customer base and some of them do not use email. (Internet but not email? Yeah, I dunno.) I've tested it and if there is a valid email address in that field it works. If there is an entry in a valid email address format, it works. (me@z.com, for example comes through.) If the field is blank or not a valid format (just "me"for example) I receive nothing on the other end.

    I have made that field required at the moment, but would like to set it up so that it's possible to use the form even if the customer does not supply an email address. Is there anyway to make the "From Email Address" field use a static email address in the case that the supplied value is not a valid email?

    Hello Eric,

    Unfortunately our Email Completion Events require that you provide an email into the Email To section of the event. If a token renders empty, this is violating the requirement of an email address.

    You might want to create another Email Completion Event. One that fires to the Email address supplied on the form and another that will fire if an email is not provided.

    You'll need to add a new Question to the form of type Hidden. The purpose of this field is to conditionally fire the correct email.

    So this will require some JavaScript. Let's say that your Email Short field name is "UserEmail" and that the new Hidden Field short field name is "EmailProvided".

    The JavaScript that should be applied would look like this:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    if($(UserEmail) != '')
    {
    $(EmailProvided) = 'True';
    }
    else
    {
    $(EmailProvided) = 'False';
    }

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    You would need to plug this JavaScript into your Email Question's Client side section under Advanced Question Options.

    So assuming that you now have 2 Email Form Completion Events you can use this hidden field to dictate which email to fire. Form Completion Events give you the ability to select a Question and value to conditionally fire the event. Select the Hidden field you created and populate the value accordingly "True" or "False"

    Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
